We will work with staff, children and parents to achieve this. EDUCATION As part of the curriculum staff will discuss with the children: the dangers of exposure to the sun the use of sunscreen and how to apply it wearing hats and playing in the shade COLLABORATION The new starters pack contains a consent form giving permission to apply sunscreen on as necessary; this sunscreen is provided by the setting. Alternatively parents can sign to provide their own sunscreen. Parents are encouraged to provide sun hats and to dress children appropriately e.g. T-shirts with short sleeves no bare shoulders. PROTECTION Children will be encouraged to apply sunscreen themselves before going out to play and frequently during play (as necessary and with adult support to ensure appropriate coverage) Children will be encouraged to wear sun hats when playing outside. The setting will attempt to hold a stock of sunhats to provide to children whose parents have failed to provide sunhats. Whilst playing outside children will be encouraged to spend time playing and/or resting in the shade.
