Welcome everyone to the 2017 boating season. I am looking forward to this year and want to be true to my word of concentrating on OUR club.

You must know that because we have openings on our present board it will be a challenging year. We are looking to you, our club members, to get more involved, not necessarily on the board, but as active members.

Many of you want more away events and therefore, do not come out to the planned events at the club house. We just had a pasta night and 16 people came out. Many of our members, past and present, worked very hard to realize the dream of our own home and we can’t let it fail because our own members choose not to support it. Away events do not generate money and in order to keep the club going, we need these club events to survive.

I am working with the Commodore of GLSBC to do an away event together so watch for the news. As Rick says in his report we need ideas from YOU. What events do you want, they don’t necessarily have to be at the club house. Doug is organizing a bowling night in March. How about golf? Mini dinghy run? Karaoke night?

Please, anyone able to take notes in a meeting, we need a Recording Secretary very badly.

Happy February Everyone,

I'm in the early stages of being your 2017 Fleet Captain and already have an appreciation for the work our past executive have put into this club.

We have a relatively mild winter so far and our boats will be in the water before long.

Pat and I were able to attend the first Commodore/Fleet Captain's meeting which was held at Detroit Beach Boat Club. Many thanks to Commodore Izzie and Rick for bringing us, and introducing us to the many fine people from other clubs.

I look forward to the challenges and the work involved in this position.

Happy New Year Everyone.

Now that the Holidays are done I look forward to the upcoming boating season for 2017.

I would like to wish our 2017 Commodore Izzie and Gentlemen Rick a great and fun year, thank you for representing our Club.

Looks like we have a great Board this year. There are a few new faces this year, thank you for stepping up and supporting your club.

I look forward to seeing you at our next event.

This is your boat club, get involved. WE still have open positions on the Board of Directors and we cannot continually operate like this. We need Your help. Volunteer.

Hi guys, and welcome all to the start of the 2017 boating year. Things are a little static presently, however as the season progresses, so too will the range of activities. As seen on the last page of the Ship's Log, there is a lot of room for improvement on the “things to do” list. Right now we are scrambling with dates to present the best year possible and our Events Page will grow over time. With a lack of board members, the load falls on just a few people who are already working diligently to put it all together. So.....we are taking suggestions from all of you on things you would like to do and places we can plan to go to for the coming year. We can work together on this and no one will be harnessed with the responsibility of running the activity they propose. Please, take an active role. We want to hear your voice. Send your thoughts to spbccommunications@bell.net.

Please take note of the list of clubs presenting this year's Poker Runs. They are listed in the Fleet Captain’s Report and this year, they are very close to our club for anyone wanting to earn an Attendance Flag. These will be destinations that use very little fuel to attend and is also a great way to meet a lot of super people and rub elbows with others in the boating community. Consider some of these in your travel plans.
