Setting of the Sumodry M and Sumodry T Control Panels

After having connected the motor to the Control Panel, as indicated in the enclosed drawing, proceed to thesetting via the dip switches present on the electronic board. The dip switch denominated C1 will set the

nominal working current, and the dip switch P.F. will set the Power Factor.

Check the nominal current value absorbed from the motor, reported on the motor label.

Check the setting current reported on the table C1, and set the dip switch as indicated.

Check the power factor value reported on the motor label, which indicates the value of cosat full load. In

order to prevent dry running, set the dip switch value as: cosat full load, minus 0,35. An easy method to

follow, is also to make the pump dry running, and verify the maximum value of coswhich stops the running.

While using this method, make sure not to dry run the pump for too long time, since this might spoil bothpump and motor.

In order to prevent dry running, the microprocessor automatically check also the current absorption fluctuation, and stops the supply if the current decreases lower than the 40% of the value set on the dip switch C1.

Basically, the dry running is prevented by a double and simultaneous check made by the 2 dip switches.

Self learning functionBoth Sumodry M and Sumodry T can be set by using the self learning function. This function might be particularlyuseful when the technical characteristics of the motor and pump are not exactly known. Of course, before using this

feature, it is necessary to make sure that the power of the motor is coupled to the correct control panel, and that thefuses installed are also correct for that specific power. For single phase motors it is also necessary to make sure that thecapacitor size is correct.

In order to start with the self learning procedure, both the dip switches have to be set in ON position; thenswitch on the control panel. The green led will start flashing quickly, meaning that the self learning function

    has started.

Then, the green led will turn off, and for about 5 seconds all the leds will remain off.

Afterward, of the 4 leds, some of them will remain off and other will turn on.

Looking at the leds, from left to right, will be indicated how to set the dip-switch C1. In fact, 4 are the leds, as4 are the digits on each dip-switch; every leds indicates how has to be set the relative dip-switch. If the ledlight is on, the relative digit on the dip-switch must be put in ON position, if the led is off, the relative digit onthe dip switch must be set on the OFF position.

After having set the dip switch C1, all the leds will turn off for 5 seconds, and then some of them will turn onagain.

As before, the sequence of the leds will indicate how to set the P.F. dip-switch.

Once both the dip-switch will be set, just turn off and turn on again the control panel, which can now be put inoperation.

The setting of the Sumodry using the self learning function, must be done only from qualified

personnel, since in case of mistake the control panel could not properly protect the motor.
