Parent’s Morning Out ages 2-3: Have some YOU time whileyour child has some Y time! Parents can leave the YMCA during the program knowing that their child is in a safe andloving environment. Providing the building blocks of learningfor children, our curriculum consists of circle-time, storytime, and gym-time, as well as mini-soccer, nurturingthe potential of every child. Parent’s Night Out facility members ages 2-12: Let the Y entertain your child, while you enjoy a night out knowingyour child is having fun at the Y. Our experienced and caringChildwatch staff will provide fun activities for your child in asafe and well-supervised environment. After School Program elementary school kids: Give your child a positive, engaging place togrow! Our After School Program offers a nutritious snack, STEAM (science, technology,engineering, art, and math) activities, and YFit4Life (an exercise and nutrition based fitness program) all under the encouragementof a trained counselor. The Summit FamilyYMCA school bus is currently picking up students from the following schools: NewnanCrossing Elementary, White Oak Elementary,Welch Elementary, and Jefferson Parkway Elementary. Teen Advisory Board 8th–12th graders: Aforum for teens to meet other teens whoenjoy service, want to have a voice in planning the activities for teens at the Summity Family YMCA, and help promote ourservices to their peers, both in and outside ofthe Y. We will meet as a group at least once amonth. During meetings we will discuss andplan upcoming activities and talk about waysour Y can help teens. Meeting dates andtimes will be determined by the group as awhole.

Leaders Club 6th–12th graders: Leaders Club is a youth development program with a special emphasis on servicelearning, the development of leadership skills and culturalcompetence. Cheerleading ages 4-10: YMCA Cheerleadingis designed to build teamwork, intermediateskills, basic fundamentals and love of thesport. Participants will practice once during the week and cheer at Y Youth Basketballgames on Saturdays. Winter: December

TUMBLINGParticipants will learn the basics of tumblingin a progressive setting. Physical strength,flexibility, and kinesthetic awareness are allintegral parts of gymnastics. The first step inbecoming a gymnast is mastering tumbling. More Info + Register

Tumbling Tots ages 2-4 with adult: Instructorwill help guide tot and parent through basicgymnastic skills to help develop strong motorskills. Curriculum is geared to safely introduce coordination, balance, and gymnastics equipment. Each class will use core values tobuild confidence, friendships and prepare participants for beginning tumbling.

Beginner Tumbling boys & girls, ages 4-12:This is a non-parent assisted class. Childrenbegin to work on the foundations of gymnastics through various skills.

Intermediate Tumbling boys & girls, ages 4-12: Children must have successfully completebeginner tumbling. This class will introducemore independence and confidence of floorgymnastics. Must meet prerequisites.

Advanced Tumbling boys & girls, ages 4-12:Floor and equipment based gymnastics. Mustmeet prerequisites.

Rec League Soccer ages 3-6 coed & 7-10 boys and girls: Thisdynamic program offers age appropriate divisions. This program is a great way to introduce your child to soccer andwe encourage parent involvement. This is a 7-week programwith practices one day a week and games on Saturdays.Spring & Fall

BASKETBALL

Basketball Clinic ages 3-4: This program will introduceyoung athletes to the basics of basketball in a safe and funenvironment. No uniform required. Winter: December More Info + Register

Youth Basketball League ages 5-16: Teams will work onpassing, dribbling, shooting and team offense and defense.Every child should participate in every game and should receive equal playing time, regardless of skill level. Juniors Tennis Drills ages 6-18: Players are grouped by ageand ability. The quick start method is used for ages 10 &under with low compression balls and smaller courts. Instruction will include stroke production, court positioning,shot selection and match play strategy. Register in advancefor these 1- or 2-day-a-week, 6-week sessions.

Intermediate/Advanced Drills for ages 13-18: Drills for players who have had some instruction on the basic strokesof the game. Participants will be introduced to shot selection, court positioning and beginning match play.

Tournament Drills for ages 12-18: Drills for players who currently have a state ranking or are working on a stateranking in singles.

ADULT TENNIS

Adult Drills ages 18+: Drills are offered morning and eveningsbased on USTA ratings. Drills are available for beginner toadvanced players. Participants uncertain of their USTA ratingshould contact the tennis office for an evaluation. Drills aredrop in, and spaces are limited.

Round Robin members only ages 18+: Mixed social round robinis held every in a doubles format. Players switch partnersevery four games. FREE for facility members.

ALL AGES

FREE Tennis Drills ages 6+: Tennis is thegame of a lifetime. Interested in trying thesport? Looking to pick it back up after sometime off? As a Y member you can participatein free drills offered exclusively as a benefitof your membership! Register at the Registration Desk.

Welcome to the our new Y Swim Lesson Upgrade. Our “Designate + Evaluate = Accelerate” model makes swim learning and advancement more efficient then ever before!

DESIGNATE – Register by age group.

• Infant & Toddler ages 6 - 36 months A Parent + Child Class!

• Preschool ages 3-5 years

• School-Age ages 6-12 years

• Teen & Adult ages 13+

EVALUATE – Each participant will be skill tested during thefirst class to determine their Stage of Learning

ACCELERATE – Participants are placed according to currentskill level so they can advance quickly through the stages tobecome a confident swimmer.

Ratios Rule: 1:12 for Infant-toddler, 1:4 for preschooland 1:6 for all other lessons ensure participants have atrained instructor at every level and ability to help themprogress through the stages.

Swim Starters: Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortablein the water and develop swim readiness skillsthrough fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about watersafety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision. This group is onlyparent-child lessons for ages 6 months to 3years, and contains the following stages...A – Water DiscoveryB – Water Exploration

Lightning Policy: We close all pools, saunas, steam rooms, and pool decks for 30 minutes following lightning or thunder.

Make–Up Policy: In the event of inclement weather, we will attempt to make up class on Friday. Please make sure we haveyour current email and phone number on file. In the event child misses a lesson, we cannot guarantee credits or refunds.

YMCA SWIM TEAM

Titans Swim Team ages 5-18: The Titans are a registeredUSA Swimming swim team that competes in meets againstother Y’s in Metro Atlanta, as well in as other USA Swimmingsanctioned meets. All swimmers are assessed for placementin the appropriate training group. All training groups focus onstroke development and personal goal-setting in an environment that emphasizes the YMCA character values ofcaring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. All groups focuson stroke development and personal goal-setting in an environment that emphasizes the Y character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Fall/Winter: September – February More Info + Register

Beginners ages 5-10: Required skills: Be able to swim at least one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke without stopping. Kids build confidence and refine all fourcompetitive strokes through drills and games, and learn lifelong skills like team work and good sportsmanship bothwhile practicing and when competing in swim meets. Thisgroup is great for kids who have been enrolled in swim lessons.

Age Group typically ages 8-14: Required Skills:Be able to swim all 4 competitive strokes forat least 100 yards without stopping; ableperform safe and efficient racing dives/startsfrom a starting block, able to perform andregularly use skills such as flip turns, stream-lining, and circle swimming. Kids build confi-dence through learning about goal-setting,and then working towards daily goals, per-sonal goals, and team goals.

Seniors ages 13-18: Required skills: Be able toswim all 4 competitive strokes for at least200 yards without stopping; successfullycomplete time trial sets of either 20 x 100 or10 x 100 within given intervals, commit to 18practices per month, 50% of YMCA dualmeets and 50% of USAS meets throughoutthe season. Senior swimmers will representthe Titans in the community, act as lane leaders, and demonstrate the capacity to be ateam leader.
