Blog Overview

My blogs are based on everything girls want to know about for the summer of 2011. Summer Tips helps provide useful information to women who are interested in health, beauty, and fashion trends. I decided to do my blogs on this topic because it is something I am personally interested in and love researching and finding new information about the latest styles and trends.

Persona

The persona for my blog is geared towards young females, approximately between the ages of 16-25. These young women are not only very health conscious, but also very into fashion and beauty trends. I decided to make my blog as girly as possible, and when I think of girly, I think of everything pink! Most girly girls are interested in products and latest trends involving nails, hair, fashion, makeup and more, which is why I wrote all 10 of my blogs on these topics.

Overall, my blog did not performance as well as I had hoped it would because I did not want to market my blogs as much as I should have.

Business Review: Key Learning's

Blog: I am very pleased with my blog but I think if I marketed it better, I would have been more successful with getting more views. As I mentioned before, overall my blog received 256 views from the 10 posts that I wrote. I tired to make my blogs well written and easy to understand so people can casually read through them, and I also added some humor to make them more interesting to read.

Business Review: Key Learnings

Facebook: Although I could have made my Facebook page very successful, I did not like the idea of posting my blog site on Facebook for all my friends to see, which is essentially what held me back from marketing my blog. Even though it was not successful, I am proud of the fact that four ladies from Pakistan liked my page, and even wrote on the page wall asking me for advice on their hair. I thought this was extremely neat to know that people from half way around the world are finding out about my page.

Business Review: Key Learnings

Twitter: I used the Twitter user name KatFerracane to make my blog more personal so that way blog followers would get an idea of who I am, because realistically, no one is going to follow a beauty blog if they dont know what the person writing the blog looks like. I used this Twitter account specifically for blog marketing purposes, but overall, the success of my Twitter was not too good because once again, I did not want to market it as much as I should have.

YouTube: For my YouTube channel, I only created two videos because of some technical issues I was having with my camera, but they did decently well considering I didnt put much effort into them. If I were to have created more videos that were more interesting, I probably would have gotten more views, which would have led to more blog views as well.

Business Review: Indicated Actions

Blog- To make my blog more popular, I should have constantly been posting new blogs more often than once a week. I should have wrote a new post twice a week instead of just once. I also could have advertised my blog better on my Facebook account, so that way, my Facebook friends would start to read my blog and look at it regularly, while also spreading the word. Facebook- As I just mentioned, I should have made better use of my Facebook account and always update my status, mentioning a new blog post. I should have also posted the link to my Summer Tips Facebook Page to my friends walls and even posted the link in my status to get more likes Twitter- I must say, I was always updating my Twitter status with the latest news on my most recently written blog post. The problem I had with Twitter was that I didnt have too many followers. Therefore, if I were to have advertised my Twitter account on my Facebook page, I probably could have gained many new followers. YouTube-I had only made two YouTube videos for my blog followers to watch, but I should have essentially made a new video for every post to not only keep my followers entertained, but to also get more people who watch my YouTube videos to follow my blog.

Do I plan on having my own website?

As of right now, no I do not plan on having my own website because it costs money to start one and having a website will gain me no sales because I currently do not offer any services to anyone. One day when I own my own business, yes I plan on having one because in todays day and age people more commonly refer to a companys website for information instead of phoning them.

Do you need to make changes to your blog?

Throughout this whole process of creating my blog I have constantly been making changes to better improve the quality of my blog. Most recently I have added a whole bunch of pictures to the side of each post to give my followers more of the flavour and vibe that they should be getting about me and my blog.

Strategies to improve search ranking include:

Putting more money towards Google Adwords to better advertise my blog and increase search rankings. Make more YouTube videos which also advertise my blog, so that way, people who watch my YouTube video can also check out my blog. Once many YouTubers have viewed my blog, it will be more easy to find in a search engine. Go to even more relative Facebook pages and post my blog website on the companys Facebook Page wall.

Recommendation: PPC

Pay Per Click Campaign: The pay per click campaign that I would most highly recommend would be banner ads. Banner Ads are great because they are often the first thing that someone will see on a web page. Below is an example of my own banner ad for my blog.

Some Keywords that were recommended to me from Google Adwords were the following: Beauty Supply Online, Professional Beauty Supply, Beauty Supply Outlet, Cosmo Beauty Supply. Each keyword costs $0.20 per click.

Currently, affiliate marketing does not apply to my business, but if my business continues to grow and develop then I will further pursue marketing and apply the affiliate marketing technique.

A great idea for mobile marketing would be to create an App for my business. All views with a data plan, regardless of which phone they have, will be able to download my App. Of course, my App will vary depending on what type of phone the viewer has. My App will easily update the viewers on all the latest information about my latest blog posts and hot topics.

Rationale

Although my blog is not a real business, the common factor between a real business and my blog is the selling aspect. Of course, my blog does not offer any services that I am trying to sell to the readers, but I am still trying to sell myself and the ideas and tips I have to offer. Due to this common factor, my recommendations will most definitely work and further market myself to get more people reading and following my blogs.

Of course certain aspects of the recommendations would be much more appropriate for a business. An example includes affiliate marketing. As a blogger who is currently not making any profit from blogging, there is no way I will reward an affiliate for each visitor brought to my site by my affiliate. First of all, because I dont have any affiliates, and secondly because I dont make a profit to offer rewards.
