THESIS RESEARCH/WRITING

Did a lot of introductory reading Chapters 4, 8 and 9 from Fowler Chapters 1-9 from Brown and Musset

Knew my area of research, but did not know the field.

Need to summarize the “big picture” and have that flow into the specific research on Wadsleyite.

Need to began literature review to include in introduction.

STUDYING FOR THE QUALIFYING EXAM

Tried to do an overall review Selected “important chapters” ~38 all together Read chapter, take notes, work out examples and old

homework’s completely Did a math review of ODE’s and PDE’s, and

Power Series Both took too much time =>Needed a change in

strategy Go to old exams => Do as many problems as

possible from now to exam Get better and more confident in problem solving
