Program content includes: ∫ Training/Orientation ∫ Conducting a hands-on research
project with faculty mentors ∫ Opportunity for clinical shadowing
(3-5 days) at UW Medical Center and/or Seattle Cancer Care Alliance
∫ Presenting your project to faculty and fellow trainees, at program’s conclusion
∫ Accessing a wide variety of relevant research conferences, meetings, presentations, and/or symposia:
-- Lab/group meetings, journal clubs -- Affinity Groups on Mathematical Modeling and Infectious Diseases in Immunocompromised Hosts -- Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention committees

Fred Hutch Infectious Disease Sciences (IDS) is a pre-eminent program of
internationally recognized clinicians and researchers, seeks to train the next generation
of leaders in infectious diseases that affect immunocompromised individuals.
Our Summer Internship Program promotes equity, diversity and inclusion and
enhances trainee exposure to this unique field, including access to faculty
mentors. Currently-enrolled undergraduates and medical students are
eligible. Trainees from underrepresented groups or disadvantaged backgrounds
are particularly encouraged to apply!
Opportunities for participating interns: ∫ Gain training experience (6-8 weeks)
tailored to your interests, experience, and
professional goals
∫ Immerse yourself in a unique program that
thrives at the intersection of clinical and
research expertise
∫ Work closely with faculty mentors on a
research or clinical project
∫ Develop critical research experience and
technical skills
