According to NASSCOM, India's Consulting Industry Revenues in 2013-14 was 86.4 Billion US$ which is forecasted to increase to 99.0 Billion US$.
There would be over 2.2 lakh people working in this field over the next three years in the 8500-9000 consultancy firms across the country.
MECON corresponds to the engineering consultancy services.
Company profile
It is a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Steel of the Government of India.
Began in 1959 as the Central Engineering and Designing Bureau (CEDB) of the Hindustan Steel limited (HSL), the first public sector steel company.
Subsequently, CEDB grew as Metallurgical and engineering consultant (MECON), a subsidiary of the Steel authority of India limited(SAIL) in 1973. It later became an autonomous company reporting to the ministry of steel in 1978

It was found that people were always overburdened and the employees in the marketing section were less.
Secondly there were instances of MECON loosing tenders to competitors
Thirdly there was a need of searching for more avenues of working for MECON.

Reasons
Dependence on re-contract from their existing customers

Policy of cutting their expenses from the miscellaneous expenses might be one of the reasons.
Suggestion:-
Start an advertising campaign which depicts MECON’s concern towards development of the society and how it’s new sector of operations can cater those.

The new government also plans to allocate a huge sum to the transportation sector as it had already laid down the biggest transportation need of the early 21st century of INDIA by planning the Golden quadrilateral roadways which connects India’ four major cities and links various smaller cities to them
