Requirements Any native or foreigner with at least a high school diploma and a sincere interest in learning

Chinese is welcome to classes at the CLC. Program (Please refer to the Program Schedule for the detail) A. Language Course

Time: Monday through Friday 9:10~12:00

Level: Basic, elementary, intermediate, Advanced. (Each class should consist of at least 5 students.)

Method: Daily language courses directed in communicative approach, with language games, role-play, authentic materials, and also task-oriented. Hanyu pinyin in Romanization and traditional characters are used as the principal written codes of instruction.

Content: * Basic level courses emphasize pronunciation,daily conversation and message writing.

* Elementary level courses emphasize practicalconversation, story reading and casual writing.

* Intermediate level courses emphasize meetingreport, media readings and summary writing.

* Advanced level courses emphasize negotiation,newspaper reading and report writing.

Evaluation: Graded according to regular assignments, quizzes, midterms and finals.

B. Cultural CourseTime: 13:10~15:00, every Wednesday

Method: Cultural courses through lectures, demonstration,practices, etc.

Content: Calligraphy, Taichi, Sugar Painting,Shulaibao….etc.

D. Extracurricular Activities & Field TripsHaving students to acquire knowledge of Chinese, Taiwanese, and Aboriginal culture, art and history, and experience its lifestyle. Students will be able to visit different famous attractions in Kaohsiung and some other areas in Taiwan and taste various cuisines of Taiwan.

Certification All courses at the CLC are offered on a non-credit basis. Thus, the CLC does not confer

diplomas. Students finishing the courses and passing the final examination will be issued certificates by the CLC. However, students who are absent for more than one third of the total class hours will not be issued the certificate by CLC.

Registration Deadline:March 13th ,2020 Applying Application Procedure All applicants should submit the following materials before the deadline. * Completed application form.* Photocopy of the first page of the

passport (passport number, name andpersonal details and photograph mustbe clearly shown.)

* Photocopy of diploma or student card(English translation is required if the abovementioned documents are in other foreignlanguages.)

* One 2-inch photo.* Consent to the Processing of Personal Data

* Each applicant is obliged to submit documents to [email protected] to complete registration before March 13, 2020.

* After receiving the application form, the CLC will immediately examine the student’s qualification. Once the application is accepted, the CLC will send out the “Letter of Admission”.

* After receiving the Letter of Admission, each student has to email your airline e-ticket to [email protected] before April 20, 2020, as the participation guarantee.

* You will receive a payment slip upon registration. Payments can be made with ease at local convenience stores and banks. Accepting CASH Only.

Fees A. Program Fee US$735 (NT$22,000) It includes:

The service is unavailable for arrivals before 8am and after 6pm. Please make your own travel arrangements during these times.

Applicants are able to receive a stipend from the Taiwan's Ministry of Education for taking part in this program. The stipend will be immediately deducted from fees upon arrival. Thus, the program fee will be US$200(NT6,000).

Accommodation a. On-campus dormitory (Shared Room with 4 )b. Each room is equipped with internet access, air-condition, wooden-framed bed, desk and chair,

bookshelf, closet and basic bedding;c. Each common area is equipped with bathroom and shower facilities, and drinking water

dispenser;d. Cooking is not allowed in the dormitory.

How to reach NSYSU & the CLC?1. From Kaohsiung railway station: you could take KRTC from Kaohsiung Main Station to

Formosa Boulevard Station (O5/R10) by the Red Line, and transfer to the Orange Line toSizihwan Station (O1). Then take the shuttle bus at Exit 2 or walk to the AdministrationBuilding of NSYSU.

2. From Taiwan High Speed Rail station: afterarriving at Zuoying Station, students cantake KRTC from Zuoying Station toFormosa Boulevard Station (O5/R10) by theRed line and transfer to the Orange line toSizihwan Station (O1). Then take the shuttlebus at Exit 2 or walk to the AdministrationBuilding of NSYSU.

3. From Kaohsiung International Airport: afterarriving in Kaohsiung International Airport,students can take KRTC from KaohsiungInternational Airport (R4) to FormosaBoulevard Station (O5/R10) by the Red lineand transfer to the Orange line to SizihwanStation (O1). Then take the shuttle bus at Exit 2 or walk to the Administration Building ofNSYSU.

4. A taxi ride from the airport to the university takes 30 to 40 minutes and usually costsapproximately NT$500.

Attractions in Kaohsiung

Dream Mall Dream Mall, located on Zhonghua Fifth Road in Kaohsiung City, houses renowned domestic and international designer brands. It is also equipped with a bookstore and some nice restaurants. People come to the Ferris wheel to take memorial weeding photos, too.

Shikuchan Commercial District Shikuchan Commercial District has recently developed into the largest and most famous marketplace for imported goods in Southern Taiwan, presenting the latest fashion in sync with Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, Japan

and South Korea, thereby securing the youth market, to whom it provides the most avant-garde leisure and shopping choice.

Kaohsiung Main Public Library An international design competition was undertaken for the construction of a green architectural structure of minimalist design.

Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum The Fo Guang Big Buddha behind the Main Hall towers 108 meters high, making it the tallest sitting bronze Buddha statue in the world. Other attractions here include the Three Acts of Goodness Children's Gallery, Cultural Square at the Four Givings Pagoda, House of Joy and Celebration at the Five Harmonies Pagoda, and sutra transcriptions, prayer service, and Tea Chan at the Twin Pavilions.
