SUMMER HOLIDAY HOMEWORK
2020-2021
GRADE-3
Dear Parents,
Summer holiday is the best time of the year when you get an
opportunity to spend maximum time with your child. In these
days when the world is facing this pandemic situation COVID
19, we get more time to spend with our family. It doesn’t mean
that we cannot enjoy vacation at home. So, we should engage
our children in fun filled activities to make these days full of
fun.
So, here are few interesting activities to keep you going through the
summer break.
Communication skills play a vital role in grooming the overall
personality. Try to converse regularly with your child
preferably in English.
Make them learn to take care of plants & animals around you.
Water the plants at your home or garden every day.
Keep a bowl of water outside in the balcony or on the terrace for
the birds to drink as it is very hot.
Some points should keep in mind and follow on regular basis for good health
and hygiene are:
Wash your hands before and after meals till 20 seconds.
Cover your face with tissue or handkerchief when you sneeze or cough.
Don’t go outside the home without any emergency.
Trim your nails regularly.
Brush your teeth twice a day.
Take a bath every day.
Always throw garbage into the dustbin and keep your surroundings clean.
Never throw things out of the windows of the car or school bus.
Switch off lights/fans when you do not require them.
Save water by closing the taps after use.
Choose any one activity from the given list. Complete the
assignment independently and neatly. Let your imagination go
crazy and be creative.
Story Writing
Have you ever observed the night sky?
During your vacation, spend time gazing
at the stars. You can do this activity
right outside your house or in an open
area near your house. Observe the night
sky and note down the words which come
to your mind.
Using these words, create a short story
or poem during the vacation.
My Little Book of a New Planet
Imagine you discovered a new planet.
Prepare a mini book to describe how it
would look like, the name that you would
like to give, the distance from the
earth, the weather, the coolest thing
that you noticed, could people come
there for vacation, etc.
Relocate a Fairy Tale to an
Alien Planet
Choose your favorite fairy tale
and locate it among the stars.
Rewrite the story as taking
place on spaceships or an alien
planet. It could happen on a
space ship, or among the stars.
Have fun creating imaginary
scenes and characters.

Climate
Presence of Water
Theme: Stars, Planets and the Moon
Learning Objective: To observe, describe and record the phases of moon.
Students are always naturally curious about the night sky, especially the
moon!
Observe the moon each night and notice the changes that occur as the days go
by and record in the moon journal.
How to Use the Moon Journal
Integration of art with science:
1. Draw a moon journal (sample given) on an A4 Size Paper.
2. Write the starting date at the top of your journal. Aim to check the moon
around the same time each night. Write the time at the top.
3. Observe the moon each day for one month. Write the date below the small
box you will be using and illustrate how the Moon looks each day by shading in
the circles to reflect the shape of the moon.
4. Continue recording your observations each night. For example: If, you can
see the whole Moon, you do not need to shade in any part of the circle. If you
can only see half of the Moon, shade the side of the moon that you cannot see
in the circle for that day. On nights when you cannot see the moon, put an ‘x’
over the box, and on nights it is too cloudy, draw clouds over the moon.
5. Once your journal is complete, observe the patterns and write about the
same.
