Come Early For Best Seats - Doors Open at 2pm

$10,000 in prizes!

Have you had a tasty craft beer lately? Want to try some of the best of New England’s craft beers? Come to the Beveridge Craft Beer Festival on August 15th from Noon to 4pm at the Nick Recreation Park in Wolfeboro. Lisa Beveridge, owner of the Beveridge Craft Beer and Soap Co. at 51 N. Main Street in Wolfe-boro, is bringing together 26 breweries from through-out New England.

The Mangroves will be providing the music for the event. If you haven’t heard this local band yet, it’s a 4-piece jam band with a funky groove. Bring a lawn chair and relax while en-joying the beer and music.

There will be plenty of tasty food to try with the beer. The Mill Street Meat Market will be on hand with delicious sliders. The Northeast Pie Company food truck will be there.

This Rochester-based food truck offers tasty savory and sweet pies from their popular meatball parm pie to their seasonal blueberry pie, there’s something for everyone. But save some room on your plate. Spider Web Gardens will be there with fresh corn on the cob. The After Burn Hot Sauce and Beef Jerky Company will also be there with all sorts of sauces to sample.

Save room for dessert. The folks from Chris’ Wick-ed Ice Cream will be there with…you guessed it…beer ice cream. They partnered with Kelsen Brewing based in Derry, NH. Don’t miss their Paradigm Brown Ale with Caramel and Brownie. Kelsen’s flagship brown ale with a little chocolate and caramel to bring out the hoppy flavor of this Beer Advocate favorite. They also have their Draken Robust Porter Ice Cream

with Caramel and Heath Bar® and featuring Kelsen Draken Robust Porter Beer and their Double Battle Axe IPA Sorbet.

Did you leave the dog behind? Bring your pooch a treat from Gunther’s Goodies – dog treats made with spent grains from breweries.

Make it a day and enjoy the fun games and ac-tivities. There will be beer pong, corn hole, whiffle ball, and, of course, Fris-bee.

Want a work out before the event? Michelle Clarke from Full Moon Paddle-board is offering a Pre-Beer Fest Paddle Tour at 10am from Albee Beach in Wolfe-boro. Contact Michelle at 603-731-8276 for more information or to register. Full Moon Paddle will also be on hand during the Beer Fest with their Tiki Toss Game.

T h e B e v -e r i d g e C r a f t B e e r Fest will bene- f i t Camp Sunshine in Casco, ME. The mission of Camp Sunshine is to provide re-spite, support, joy, and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families. The year-round program is free of charge to all families, and includes 24-hour onsite medical and psychosocial support. Although based in ME, families come from around the world to spend time at Camp Sunshine. “Growing up vacationing in Point Sebago, we were close to Camp Sunshine,” ex-

plained Lisa Beveridge. “It’s

an amazing place that runs on volunteers and dona-tions.” Beveridge went on to say that she used to volun-teer at Camp Sunshine.

Tickets are $30 per per-son in advance online at www.beerfests.com or at the Beveridge Craft Beer and Soap Store at 51 N. Main Street. Tickets will be available at the door on the day of the event for $40. You must be 21 or over to attend the festival (please bring your ID). This event will take place rain or shine.

On Wednesday, August 12th at 7pm, the Lake Winnipesaukee Museum is hosting a presentation, “Lady of the Lake-the Lost Financial Records”, Fea-turing David Warren.

A complete set of fi-nancial records from the 1880’s for the Lady of the Lake steamboat was recently discovered in a Wolfeboro attic. Beauti-fully penned by her clerk, Herbert Rogers, they doc-ument the activities of the boat and crew during a most fascinating period in our history. Coupled with a diary recorded by Her-bert’s mother Sarah, that describes his activities on the boat at that time, we have a rare glimpse at ordinary life here in the lakes region in the 1880’s.

During this talk, we’ll review the history of the Lady of the Lake, and then focus on her activities in the 1880’s. We’ll see

where people traveled for business, recreation and religious purposes, and learn what it took to get them there. We will also see how daily and season-al travel patterns changed as tourism developed. In addition, we will see how the Lady interacted with other steamboats and responded to increasing competition from the SS

Mt. Washington. We will also look inside the opera-tion of the Winnipiseogee Steamboat Co. and see what it took to feed the passengers, house the crew and supply copious quantities of wood for the boiler.

This event is free for Lake Winnipesaukee Historical Society members, for non members there is a $5 fee with all proceeds going to benefit the Historical Society’s ongoing renova-tions. We are located on Route 3 in Weirs Beach, next to Funspot. Please RSVP to 366-5950.

Dr. Cristow’s life takes a sudden turn for the worse as the mistress of mystery Agatha Christie does it again in her whodunit “The Hollow” at The Barnstorm-ers Theatre, August 6-15.

Barnstormer and Chris-tie fans know how the Brits and Dame Agatha relish their weekends in the country, and the play opens with everyone land-ing for a lovely weekend at The Hollow, the home of Lady and Sir Henry Ang-katell. Dr. Cristow and his wife arrive and, much to his horror, he realizes his ex and current lovers are there as well. Soon the “good” doctor is dead, and everyone is a suspect. Dame Agatha once again gives her audience sus-pense and intrigue, pep-pered with bits of humor, in this unforgettable, sum-mer theatre whodunit.

“Agatha Christie and The Barnstormers are peas in a pod,” said Artistic Direc-tor Bob Shea. “With this stellar cast, ‘The Hollow’ will have everyone on the edge of their seats until the curtain closes in this nail-biting and extremely witty drama.”

Longtime, local Barn-stormer favorites in “The Hollow” include Vinette Cotter, Robert Bates and Elizabeth Henle, Frank T.

Wells, and are joined by other favorites - Dee Nel-son, Doug Shapiro, Dale Place, Blair Hundertmark, Madeleine Maby, Anne-Ma-rie Cusson, Greg Pike and, for the first time in Tam-worth, Anna Marie Sell. Directed by Bob Shea.

The Barnstormers, a 282-seat, professional, Equity theatre founded in 1931, enjoys air conditioning, a hearing assist system and is wheelchair accessible. Tuesday - Saturday eve-nings and weekend mati-nees, tickets cost $12-$36

with group rates and pack-age discounts available. Beer, wine and lemonade are available during inter-mission. Friday night is Family Night with special prices.

Each year, the Museum features new boathouses on the tour. All are on Lake Winnipesaukee in the Tuftonboro, Wolfe-boro, and Moultonbor-ough areas. Boathouses will boast a variety of styles and interesting stories. Greeters will be on hand to discuss the

tors can watch works of art being created and pur-chase pieces either during the day or at the close of the event from 2-3, when an hour of refreshments and music in the Com-munity Bandstand will be enjoyed.

Activities for children are also planned during the day. There will be watercolor kits, paper and brushes available for a donation and the well-re-membered “Mouse Lady” will be turning thumb prints into a mouse por-trait, also for a fee.

Interested artists are encouraged to learn more details and register by going to wolfeboroarts.org, or contacting Deb-bie Hopkins (603)569-4994 or Madelyn Albee (603)569-1701. Rochester Main Street present the Factory Court Brown Bag Concert Series at Factory Court on North Main Street and Central Square in Rochester. The Factory Court Brown Bag concerts are held from 11:45am until 1:30pm.

Rochester Main Street volunteers are pleased to announce that local mu-sician, singer and song-writer Pat O’Brien will be the featured performer at a special Monday, August 10 Factory Court Brown Bag Concert in celebra-tion of Rochester Arts & Culture Week. Concert goers are asked to “bring a chair and buy or bring a

lunch” to enjoy a musical performance.

Pat O’Brien grew up playing and singing tra-ditional Irish music, and was also strongly influ-enced by the American Folk Music movement in the 60’s. Her original music is a blend of both. As a singer/songwriter, she was a founding mem-ber of the women’s folk group “Labrys” releasing two CD’s of original mu-sic and performing with them until 2004. She performed and released two additional CD’s with the Irish band An Banna Ceoil. Pat began traveling through Ireland several

years ago, blending her heritage with her new ex-periences into a solo CD. Of late, she has performed with Bradigan, and con-tinues solo performances of songs and stories. Re-cent performances include the Seacoast Irish Festi-val, the Irish Gala at the Rochester Opera House, the Effingham Summer Concert Series, Willow-brook Village in Newfield Maine, and solo events of songs and stories at the Goodwin Library in Farmington. Pat is also a former Rochester Poet Laureate and hosts the monthly Writer’s Nights at Mel Flanagan’s Irish Pub & Café.

New Hampshire’s mos t popu la r Lakes Region at-t ract ions, the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad and the M/S Mount Washing-ton Cruise Ship, are working with t h e 5 6 - s t o r e Tanger Out let Center in Tilton, NH to offer an af-fordable family activity and help reduce the cost of back-to-school shopping at the same time.

Referred to by many as the “Ultimate tour of Lake Winnipesaukee”, the Rail & Sail excursion harkens back to the late 1800’s when the Boston & Maine Railroad built and owned the original paddle steamer Mount Washing-ton. The railroad brought adventurous tourists from New York and Boston north by train to enjoy New Hampshire’s largest lake during the summer months. By the late 19th century, it was quite com-mon for the Mount Wash-ington to transport well over 60,000 passengers in a single season.

Today, the Rail & Sail excursion consists of a 2-hour train ride along the western shore of the lake aboard the Winnipesau-kee Scenic Railroad, a 2 ½ hour lake cruise aboard the M/S Mt. Washington Cruise Ship and time to enjoy the shops and ar-cades at Weirs Beach. The 6-hour adventure departs Meredith station located

at 154 Main Street in Meredith, NH at 10:30am and returns at 4:30pm daily. The cost of the Rail & Sail package is $39.95 for adults and $29.95 for children 5-12, while ages 4 and under ride free.

“Working closely with the M/S Mount Washing-ton Cruise Ship and the Tanger Outlet Center in Tilton, we felt this package would be a unique oppor-tunity for the three busi-nesses to work together in providing a memorable activity for families dur-ing the final days of sum-mer, as well as help them reduce the cost of their back-to-school shopping”, stated Paul Giblin, Direc-tor of Marketing & Busi-ness Development for the Hobo & Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroads. “With each family purchase of a Rail & Sail package at the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad, families receive a Tanger Outlet Gift Card voucher worth $10.00 and a valuable coupon booklet worth additional savings while supplies last”.
