Our Camps:

Regardless of which camp experience you choose, here are some things you need to know about all of our camps: 1. J Camps fill up quickly, so be sure to register early to ensure your

child’s space is reserved.2. Campers must register for a minimum of two weeks (consecutive

or nonconsecutive) in either general or specialty camps.3. All campers begin and end their day at the J. The camp day,

unless otherwise noted, runs from 9am to 4pm. We start and end our day with Mifkad! (an all camp community gathering to get the energy flowing with dancing, singing, daily announcements, and of course, “Hebrew Man”).

4. Before and After Camp Care is available as an add-on between 7:30am–9am and 4pm–6pm.

5. Campers should come to camp every day with a bagged nut-free, meatless lunch (i.e. dairy or vegetarian), complete with a labeled water bottle. Please also send your campers wearing sneakers and with a swimsuit and towel each day.

InclusionWe support the inclusion of all children in camp, regardless of one’s physical, social, or emotional needs; camp is a place to learn, grow, and have fun! If your child needs additional support to ensure a successful summer in J Camps, we can arrange for an Inclusion Support Specialist at an additional cost. We look forward to supporting you and your child for a successful and fun-filled summer! Campers will explore points of interests in Virginia, Maryland, and the District, with two field trips per week and free swim each afternoon. Throughout the summer, campers will engage in social action projects while making their mark on our J community.

NEW! Optional: Olim Bet Peer Mentor ProgramContact [email protected], 703.537.3031 for more information or to register. This exciting new program for Olim Bet campers is dedicated to supporting a child with special needs in the same group during the weeks he/she will be attending. Campers may request to have a Peer Mentor or to serve in that role. Campers applying to be a Peer Mentor will go through an application process and, if selected, will receive training on inclusive practices. Peer Mentors will be eligible to receive community service hours upon completion. Peer Mentors serve an important role at camp because they help support a camper with special needs in feeling comfortable and welcomed in the group. They also help encourage participation and appropriate social interactions and comradery; encourage inclusion from all members of the group no matter one’s social, physical, or emotional needs; and much more. Registration Information and Rules for All CampsPlease read carefully before you complete your camper’s registration form.

PRIORITY REGISTRATION: Registrations are processed in the order in which they are received. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. To receive the discounted member rate for summer camp, a one-year obligation of a Family membership is required. Membership must remain current throughout the duration of the program. If you have any questions please call 703.537.3092. For information on membership, please contact the Membership Department at [email protected]. LIMITED ENROLLMENT: Due to Fairfax County licensing requirements, each session has a fixed maximum number of campers that can be accommodated. Parents will be notified if they are put on a wait list. For the safety of our campers, enrollment cannot be expanded beyond capacity. Please register early to ensure your placement. There is a separate wait list for each camp. Slots are filled as space becomes available per camp. All programs are contingent upon minimum enrollment. TUITION AND DEPOSITS: Camp tuition and deposits are nonrefundable. Be sure you know which session(s) you want before you register. Total fees are due on May 9, 2017. Delinquent invoices (paid seven days, or more, after the deadline) will be charged a 5% late fee. The registration form must be filled out completely for each child. A $100 deposit per child for two weeks, plus a $30 deposit for each additional

week, is required with each registration. The deposit will be applied toward each designated session fee. Camp fees may be paid by check, payable to the JCCNV, or charged on VISA, MasterCard and American Express. For more information please contact [email protected] or 703.537.3077.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact Fairfax County Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) at 703.324.3556. To request a Student Aid Form or for further information, please contact [email protected] or 703.537.3077. To receive a scholarship you must have a J family membership. JCCNV CAMP FORMS: All forms MUST be received by May 15, 2017. This includes proof of birth and medical forms. No camper will be able to attend camp unless these forms are on file. Please do not bring the forms the first day. Virginia state licensing does not permit us to accept a child into camp unless current JCCNV forms are on file. CAMP LIFE: Every effort will be made to ensure that campers should be able to adjust to camp life, participate in scheduled activities and accept direction from staff. If they are not able to adjust, they will be asked to withdraw at the discretion of the director and in consultation with the parents. SUMMER AND SUN: Being that summer camp falls during the hottest and sunniest months of the year, we at J Camps take every precaution to protect campers from the harmful effects of the sun. For your convenience, J Camps provides Coppertone kids SPF 30 spray on sunscreen for all campers for reapplication as necessary. We require all parents to apply sunscreen to their campers each day before arrival at camp. All campers must apply sunscreen unless there is a form submitted in writing. Families may elect to send in

their own sunscreen to be used for their camper or use the brand provided by J Camps; however, regardless of which option is chosen, we must have the authorization form filled out, signed and returned with each camper’s paperwork.

Staying hydrated in the heat of the summer months and in the midst of all of our exciting camp activities is critical. Campers must bring a labeled water bottle to camp each day. While we always have water on hand for campers, each child should also come with his/her own bottle they can keep with them and refill as needed.

SNACK: Please note that only campers registered for after camp care will receive snack provided by J Camps. Please send your camper with enough snacks in their lunches to provide them with a morning and afternoon snack. LUNCH: All campers are to bring a nut-free, meatless lunch (dairy, vegetarian, or pareve) and a drink each day. Please refer to your parent manual for suggestions. Hot lunch is available for purchase on Fridays; preregistration is required. More information to follow. ON-SITE CARPOOL PROCEDURE: Each camper will receive two carpool number cards. Families are required to show these cards when picking up children.

SESSION CHANGES: If a participant wishes to switch camps during the summer and space allows, we request notification by Thursday of the previous camp week. A $35 administrative fee will apply per child.

PHOTOS AND VIDEOGRAPHY: The J reserves the right to photograph and videotape camp activities for use in publicity and promotional materials. Please notify us in writing, and submit a photo of your child, if you do not wish for your child’s photo to be used.

Best Friends!!!Having an awesome time!
