The 2020 ACFSA Virtual Annual ConferenceSeptember 13-15, 2020

We had to cancel our 68th Annual Conference due to gathering and travel restrictions, but quite frankly . . . we need to see you!

Like many events in 2020, our Annual Conference has had to reimagine itself. After much consideration, the Conference Committee has pivoted to a Virtual Conference, to help our members connect, gain professional development hours, and share ideas and products. The show will be shorter by one day, but we will be keeping the same week in September from the 13th-15th, 2020.

Behind the scenes, the Leadership Team and our ACFSA Board discussed all of our options and realized that we had to come up with a way for us all to meet and provide educational sessions, networking opportunities and a trade show. To that end, we have come up with a Virtual Conference that will take place over the same dates as our original Conference. So, this September 13-15, I invite you to join us in a virtual setting to accomplish our mission of delivering educational programming and networking for our members. What does that mean? Well, it means that we will all meet in a setting that will replicate a Conference Center complete with an Exhibit Hall, Meeting Rooms, Networking Lounge and an Auditorium all on-line and accessible from your home or o ce computer.

Why Should You Attend The 2020 Virtual Conference?

This is sure to be both informative and fun and I urge you to be with us and reconnect with friends from the industry and to support our Professional Partners that will be with us in our Virtual Trade Show. There are a number of them that have developed new products as a result of the Covid-19 crisis and you’ll want to see those products and services rst-hand (albeit, virtually)!

During the 2 days of conference, there will be a variety of educational breakouts, general sessions with keynote speakers that will excite and motivate you to go back to business at your Institution! We will be discussing the latest information on how the Correctional Food Service Industry is dealing with Covid-19 and adaptimg to new procedures. You cannot a ord to miss this chance to interact with peers as you learn and share the best practices currently in place.

Be sure to visit our rst ever virtual trade show where you will be able to get information on new and exciting food items as well as learn about equipment, packaging, technology and so many other things that help make your program successful! There will be designated times for you to chat live with exhibitors in their virtual booth. Many of our Partners have new products since we last convened, and have met the challenge to help you navigate and combat this Covid-19 crisis, so make it a priority to visit them during our designated show hours!

After the conference, all sessions will be available to attendees on-demand, and the exhibit hall will transition to a Marketplace for our attendees and members to have access to through August 2021 - to help them source products throughout year. As always, the main focus of this conference is to provide training and education opportunities to our membership and Conference attendees. ACFSA strives to bring the most current information and trends in the Correctional Food Service Industry to light in our educational sessions, Keynote Presentations and certi cation courses. This year’s Agenda is outstanding in scope and touches on the most important topics that our members are currently interested in and challenged with.

As you can see, this is Correctional Food Service’s most important gathering of the year. With us not being able to get together in person this year, this is the most important gathering for professionals in the Correctional Food Service Industry. Great sessions and numerous networking opportunities with colleagues, peers, friends and Industry experts, so you cannot a ord to miss it!

Richard Hodsdon has been an attorney for more than 40 years and for his entire career has been involved in civil and criminal matters concerning corrections, criminal prosecution and law enforcement operations. He has over 30 years of experience dealing with management and personnel issues including employment law. Rick currently is an assistant county attorney in Stillwater, MN where his duties include representation of the county and criminal justice agencies. He has trained thousands

of government sta on civil litigation, criminal law and personnel issues. Rick has also served as counsel to the Minnesota Sheri s Association for over 30 years.

Rick’s career includes 8 years with the MN attorney general’s o ce and a year in private practice defending government o cials in civil litigation. Rick and has served as an instructor for NIC, the AELE and School of Police Sta and Command on a variety of topics. He is the author of several books and in addition to his law degree has a Masters in public administration.

Your Virtual Booth gives you a spot in our virtual trade show. The Virtual Booth can be updated easily to include logo, 2 pop-up banners, 1 video on screen attendees can watch when they enter your booth, up to 10 tabs for you to link to promotional material, entry for a drawing, sign-up for your newsletter, additional videos, brochures or other POS info, etc. Each exhibitor will also have the ability to provide a live zoom link (or webex, gotomeeting, or any other link they want to use) for attendees to video chat with them live during our tradeshow hours.

Virtual Tradeshow will be accessible through Sept. 2021, and can be updated at any time. Membership OptionsProfessional Foodservice Member:Persons actively engaged in correctional food or farm service operations is eligible to become a professional foodservice member. Professional foodservice members may vote for and hold Exec. and Reg. Director po-sitions on the Board of Directors. Annual dues: $79

Institutional Member:Correctional Facilities. The membership is not carried in the name of a specific person, but the institution is entitled to privileges of active mem-bership by appointing a representative who has the power of one vote for and may hold Executive or Regional Director positions on the Board of Directors. Annual dues: $134

Retired Member:Retired correctional foodservice professionals who are not currently in-dustry consultants, manufacturers’ representatives or employed in any capacity by Companies that could potentially sell to correctional foodser-vice professionals. Retired members may vote for Executive or Regional Director positions on the Board of Directors. Annual dues: $34

Student Member:Student Members of ACFSA are those individuals who are currently en-rolled in a Food Service program and considering the Correctional Food Service Industry as a career option. Student Members will have access to Professionals currently in the industry and have the opportunity to learn the industry and to foster important relationships. Annual dues: $34

Professional Partner:Companies providing products/services that can be used in the correc-tional foodservice environment. Professional Partners may vote for and hold the office of Professional Partner Representative on the Board of Di-rectors. Annual dues: $384

Associate Professional Partner:Individual employees or representatives of Professional Partner compa-nies who want to receive all Association’s mailings. Associate Professional Partners may vote for and hold the office of Professional Partner Repre-sentative on the Board of Directors. Manufacturers’ Representatives may become Assoc. Professional Partners, in conjunction with a Professional Partner Co. if they use the membership to sell that professional partner’s products only and are listed under that company’s name only. Annual dues: $109

Chapter Professional Partner:Those companies that target a limited geographic area. Chapter Profes-sional Partners will receive ACFSA’s quarterly INSIDER Magazine, but not the International Membership Directory. They may not vote for or hold international office. They may participate in Regional or Interna-tional Conferences without submitting Professional Partner membership dues or registering as a non-member Professional Partner if the confer-ence falls within the geographic limits of their chapter.
