PARKS AND GREEN SPACES

Parks and Green SpacesThe City of Summerside is a community blessed with an abundance of public green space areas. There are twenty-eight parks and green space areas including 10 sports fields, and 4 trail systems. This includes the Canada Games Complex located at Credit Union Place complete with a turf soccer field, four beach volleyball courts, BMX Bike Park, and an outdoor concert venue. Summerside is also the home of tennis courts at Credit Union Place, Pickleball Courts at Wilmot Community Centre, Basketball Courts at Schurman Park, and Ball Hockey Courts at Leger Park! The City is extremely fortunate to have 4 extensive trail systems: Rotary Friendship Park Trail, Confederation Trail, Baywalk Boardwalk, and Heather Moyse Heritage Park & Garden Trail.

On August 15, 2018 The City of Summerside presented a grand opening of the City’s Leger Park, which had been undergoing a renovation that included the addition of new playground equipment, splash pad, canteen, and cement pathways. The new splash pad will provide families with free, outdoor fun for the entire family to enjoy on hot summer days.

In November of 2018, The City of Summerside introduced their very first mountain bike/FAT bike trails at Rotary Friendship Park! The trails consist of challenging “bumps and humps” for cycling enthusiasts. There are three trails of varying levels of difficulty.

In 2019, the City will also see the completion of its first inclusive play structure at Billy Bridges Park on Notre Dame Street!
