Eleanor Yeomans graduated from Framingham
High School June 3, 2018. She is off to Mount
Holyoke in the Fall!
SDW is proud of our seniors and Fiona and Yelisse; your success is our joy
and we look forward to what lies ahead.
Your story matters to us! We are so proud of all our young speakers for joining
the Moth fundraiser! All the speakers provided an environment charged with
humor, emotion, suspense and perseverance. Elements that are part of all our
stories; that is what makes this live storytelling so successful because, though
our stories are different and varied, there are similarities that link us all
together. We would like to thank Lisa Eck, M.C for organizing the event and
for being a stand out emcee. Her charm made everyone comfortable and created
a fun and welcoming mood for all to enjoy. Thank you to all who provided
delicious and splendid treats. Thank you to our team members who volunteered
during the event.
We raised $580.00 which went to support SDW Team Dance Companies.
Please join us again at next year’s Moth event!

STUDENT PRODUCED CONCERT
The stage was graced with so much talent and art. The
audience was moved and filled with pride. The clash of
good and evil started with our tiny heroes opening the show
with a playful spirit. Team Rocket, Sailors, Darth Vader,
Bat Girls, Smooth Criminal and all our dancers really
captured the essence of all their characters. Our soloists did
a brilliant job commanding the stage and demonstrating
strength and grace. It was especially inspiring to see original
choreography; a discipline that takes many hours and
dedication, which is an accomplishment we all salute!
The dancers hard work began in the classroom under the
instruction of our visionary teachers without whom there
could be no show! Thank you to Nathan Bentley, Callie
Chapman, Kelsie Crowley, Elaine Hom, Jennifer Markham
Martin, Nathalia Neves and Carol Sereda for the hours of
instruction and creative vision. Show day is exciting and
powerful and takes many hands to pull together. Thank you
to all our volunteers that helped coordinate the front of
house and those who offered backstage support. A big thank
you for all the donated goods that families provided for
concessions. A special note of thanks and gratitude to
Ronda Yeomans who was the maestro of the lobby! We are
indebted to Elaine Hom, who after a sabbatical to perform in
Allegiance, came back to act as our stage manager!
Hereos and villains alike all our dancers are stars. Enjoy the
summer and see you in the Fall!
COSTUME MAGIC:
She spent the year stitching and embellishing
beautiful costumes for our dancers all while
juggling an international lifestyle. In this year’s
production of the Nutcracker Suite on Site, Carla
toiled meticulously on the snowflakes adding
extensive rhinestones, beads, lace and tulle to
enhance the shimmer and elegance of each dancer
under the spotlights. In addition, she still found
time to dance in the show! She is our talented
treasure. Her expert craftsmanship was again on
display in the Heroes and Villains Dance Concert
in the Spanish styled costumes worn by the teen
Ballet Repertoire dancers. Each piece had unique
enhancements setting them apart from the others
and it is this attention to detail that Carla crafts
from her heart. We are so grateful for her uniquly
talented eye and elegant creations. She is the
embodiment of the slogan “labor of love” as she
continues to create artistic visions wile ensuring
that all look brilliant and dazzling!
We owe a great
deal to Carla
Peretto for the
many hours of
quiet crafting
that she puts in to
make our
dancers shine
and sparkle on
stage.
In the past,
Carla expressed
that she once
considered
being a
professional
costume
designer. SDW
is lucky that
she has graced
us with her
skill and talent
through the
years.

Bianca and Raquel were nominated by their teacher Nathalia Neves for their personal development and perseverance throughout the year. The girls have been part of the Sereda DanceWorks family since 2015.
Dance has the ability to be a mental game. Doubts and insecurities can seep into even the most advanced dancer. Overcoming them is both a sign of courage and determination! Bianca overcame her fear of dancing on her own in a solo moment, which she executed at the Heroes and Villains Dance Concert! Raquel continues to show a keen determination to achieve her goals in class. The girls are also very determined at keeping a detailed and thoughtful dance journal, which they can consult as a reference tool. They are both exemplary students.
Congratulations on being Dancer(s) of the Month, Bianca and Raquel!

DANCER OF THE MONTH
STUDENT PRODUCED CONCERT
Dancers have the opportunity to flex their choreographic muscles in the Student Produced Concert series. The students created solos and duets that were either self or peer produced. The concert is a returning student favorite showcase and they manage every detail of the event. This concert certainly epitomizes the notion that dance is an expressive art. The currents of passion were clear from beginning to end. Some were first time participants and all produced pieces that were moving, spirited, dynamic or mature in vision.
This year Ailish McDonough acted as stage manager and mastered the coordination between dances and maintained an ease between all transitions. Selam Ianno was the tech and sound director and her skill at managing everyone’s sound was critical in maintaining a smooth production sequence. Sydni Chandler highlighted the spirit of the concert by providing a program blurb. As you can see, many young hands pulled it all together. Great job to everyone involved!
