Tuition and other charges, along with related regulations and requirements, are those authorized at the time of publication of this schedule but are

subject to change without notice as necessitated by college or legislative action. Questions should be directed to the Business Ofce at 281-425-6324.

    TuitionFees Total Tuition

Effective with the Fall 2005 semester, Lee College began applying a surcharge to the tuition of students repeating a class for the third or greater time since Fall 2002. This action wastaken because the state legislature eliminated the funding match colleges previously received for these enrollments. The surcharge is assessed at the nonresident tuition rate ($85per credit hour, in addition to the regular tuition rate based on the students residency). Students are strongly encouraged to keep the surcharge in mind when considering whether to

drop a required course. If the drop will result in a grade of W the course will be counted as an attempt. Students should see a counselor or the registrar if they have questions aboutwhether they will be affectedduring this or any other registration period. Also, new legislation limits the total number of drops. See page 15 for more information.

The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a state-mandated program designed toimprove students success rates in college. TSI includes testing, advising, and ifnecessary, developmental coursework. These elements of the plan help ensurethat all students who register for college-level courses at public colleges anduniversities are College Readythat is, they have the necessary skills to succeed.

Who is exempt from the TSI requirements and how do I know if I amCollege Ready?

    1. Students who have taken THEA/TASP test, or any state approved alternativetest, have satised the TSI testing requirement. That is, they dont need totake a TSI test.

    2. Students who were classied as TASP-Passed in any or all of the three areasof the TASP test are considered College Ready in that area with regard to TSI.In other words, students who were TASP-Passed in reading, writing, or mathare College Ready in those areas and students who were TASP-Decient in oneor more areas are TSI-Decient in the same areas.

    3. Students who were granted TSI-Exempt status because of scores earned onexams such as SAT, ACT, or prior college courses, are considered College Ready.

    4. Students who have been classied College Ready by another Texas college oruniversity will retain that status when they transfer to Lee College.

    5. Students who satisfy the TSI military standard are exempt from TSI standards.(Students who are members of the military or have had recent militaryexperience should see a Counselor.)

    6. Students who wish to enroll in courses for personal enrichment at Lee Collegemay be exempt from initial testing. (Personal Enrichment enrollment may belimited, and students who enroll for Personal Enrichment are not eligible forstate or federal nancial aid.)

    7. Students with high scores on the SAT, ACT, or TAKS test are TSI-Exempt. Toachieve this status, the scores must meet or exceed the following scores:

    a. SATCombined 1070Verbal 500Math 500

    b. ACTComposite 23English 19Math 19

    c. TAKSMath 2200English/Language 2200Writing Sub-score 3

(Exemption scores are established by the state and are subject to change. Scoresare effective for three years from the date a student takes TAKS and are effective

for ve years from the date the SAT or ACT is taken.)

To be elegible to take College level Math, placement scores must meet orexceed the following: THEA 270; Accuplacer 51 (in college level math);SAT 551; or ACT 20.9. Students who have completed college-level courses at a private or out-of-state college

or university may be exempt. (Students who transfer credits from other colleges or

universities should check with the Records Ofce.)10. Students pursuing most Lee College Certicates of Completion are waived from TSI

requirements. (Students who are in doubt about their certicate programs shouldcheck with a Counselor or Advisor.) While exempt from TSI, Lee College requiresplacement testing to qualify for coursework w/in the certicate.

Are any deadlines associated with TSI requirements?

TSI-responsible students must take initial testing before they begin their rst college-levelcourses.

What if a student does not pass TSI initial testing?

Failure to pass a section of TSI testing does not prevent students from enrolling in mostcollege-level courses, provided that the student meets the pre-requisites for the courses

that the student wishes to take.

A FEW MORE THINGS TOKNOW AND REMEMBER

What does testing cost?THEA (whether one section or more) costs $29 to $59, depending on regular or lateregistration.

Accuplacer All sections $29Re-testing Reading $5

    Math $10

    Sentence Skills $5Essay $10

Where are tests given? In the Counseling Center. Call (281)425-6384 to make an appointment.

When are tests given?THEA is given about 1-4 times each month.Accuplacer is given almost every day the Counseling Center is open.During registration periods, the number of testing sessions increases.

Students must bring a picture ID (for example, drivers license) when coming to test.

Total time to complete the Accuplacer (all three sections) is approximately 3 to 5 hours.
