It was a great moment to see the youth and adults to think through the process and to realize they always had the answer of knowing who to do and who to talk to in negative cases.

Youth in the summer program was not use to someone highlighting and spotlighting their accomplishments. While they had achieved their goal, They were now being exposed to being take care of versus taking care of someone else.

Additionally, the Junior Club Members were in the position of making someone feel happy as People do for them in events. It was all around great experience.

Page 49: Summary of Obesity Campaign Campaign with local recs and parks

Copyright 2016 International Association of Black TriathletesEven the boys in the group had to

humble themselves and cooperated after a great event.

This program had a positive impact on the males in the group as well as females.

Engaging in more than one discipline in any single event was not as easy as they had thought but now the seed has been planted.

Individual Leadership Emerged

This young lady was not as receptive during the event as she could have been however by the end she was all hands on deck assisting in the clean up, pack up, etc without being asked.

For some reason in the beginning she had a barrier blocking her success however some where along the way, her mindset changed. We were introducing her to a concept and movement she was not use to.

HIS STORY

This young man shared with me during the educational workshop how he was being bullied and not liked at school or even during the summer program. Attempts were made to identify role models within their setting for everyone. For him particularly the person he chose was being mean to him. I gave him my card and told him I would see him again however he could call me at any time.

A few weeks lapsed in between Part 1 and Part 2 of the program. However when I saw him during the Part 2, his situation had not changed. Not deliberately he was placed on the team with the young man, he favored but did not favor him. Despite the past, they worked together as a team during the event. The other young made gave him a hug at the end. It made his day. What made his day more was the receiving of his 1st medal in his life as he is not in a situation to play sports of be a part of a team.

He was introduced to a program that educated him on how to overcoming childhood obesity such as good eating habits, strategies to overcome bullying and peer pressure but also ways to contribute to a healthy lifestyle. As a result, his self confidence, self esteem, and self awareness increase. We accomplished our mission, goal and program objectives as an organization.
