Give yourself the freedom from glasses that you deserve! “After wearing glasses and contacts for 30 years, I had recently been prescribed bifocals to correct my near vision. Because of my astigmatism, corrective contact lenses, to address both near and far sightedness, were extremely expensive and not even a comfortable option for me. Working in online marketing, I spend most of my day in front of a computer screen and needed a solution that would make it easy and comfortable for me to work. Dr. Stanley Braverman suggested that I was a good candidate for Presbylasik. I opted for the procedure and could not be more pleased with my results. I have excellent vision both near & far and no longer require a need for glasses. Thank you Dr. Braverman for an Excellent Job Well Done!Alma Mazar-Berrios and Jose Berrios PresbyLasik patients “My husband was so happy with his outcome that he convinced me to have the procedure. I’m very happy not to have to wear glasses…I feel very grateful. Both of us have recommended Dr. Braverman to friends.”

Focusing Problems

The Near-Far Vision Multifocal LASIK Procedure

THE LASIK EYE SURGERY FOR PATIENTS FORTY AND OLDER

In the normal eye, images carried by light rays enter the eye through the cornea, the crystal clear front of the eye. Passing through the lens near the center of the eye, the images are focused onto the retina at the rear of the eye. Vision occurs when these focused images are sent from the retina to the brain and are interpreted.

Presbyopia is an inevitable condition of aging. Its time of onset varies, but usually occurs between the ages of 40

to 45, when individuals begin to lose their ability to see close objects with or without glasses. This occurs when the lens, the clear liquid focusing portion of the eye, thickens and gradually becomes resistant to bending or focusing. This is not, as many people fear, a serious deterioration of the eye. It is simply part of the normal aging process.

Laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is a surgical procedure that may permanently restore vision. Near-Far Vision Multifocal LASIK is an advanced LASIK procedure which combines the correction of myopia (nearsightedness) with or without astigmatism and hyperopia (farsightedness) with or without astigmatism, with the correction of reading or near vision compromised by presbyopia (the inability to see up close with age).

We Can Finally Give People Forty and Older Good Vision Both at Distance and Near!

LASIK was first performed in 1989 in Greece and was introduced to U.S. surgeons in 1990. The excimer laser was approved by the US FDA in 1995. Near-Far Vision Multifocal LASIK is an advanced LASIK procedure which involves creating a flap of corneal tissue using a femtosecond laser. After the flap is created, it is gently folded aside still attached to the cornea, and an excimer laser removes a special shape of tissue specific to each patient’s prescription, depending on the refractive error to be corrected, using two independent laser treatments on each eye, making the cornea multifocal. The corneal flap is then repositioned into its pre-surgical position without sutures.

When individuals can no longer tolerate contact lenses, or when vocational or avocational goals demand good vision without optical devices for near and far vision, or you are just sick and tired of wearing glasses all the time, then the surgical correction of nearsightedness, astigmatism, farsightedness and presbyopia can be considered.

Near-Far Vision Multifocal Lasik is performed using numbing (anesthetic) eye drops so you should experience no pain or discomfort during the procedure. The entire procedure lasts approximately ten minutes, however the actual lasering of each eye usually takes less than one minute. A transparent eye shield is worn for the first 24 hours so the patient doesn’t accidentally rub the eyes. In most cases, the procedure is performed bilaterally (on both eyes) a few minutes apart.
