Subject: Request to change the pattern of marks for Theory/Practical of
Dept. of Sanskrit Sam hita Siddhanta
Ref.: The Gazette of India: Extraordinary, Part III Section 4, Regd. No.
D.L.-33004/99, No. 108, Published on 26thApril 2012.
Respected Sir,
Our esteem Institute CCIM , Delhi is continuously working for progress of
Ayurveda. As per above m entioned Subject & reference, I want to focus
your kind attention on following facts & hence want to suggest major
changes about Dept. of Sanskrit Samhita Siddhantas pattern of marks for
Theory/Practical -
1. Our aims & Objects are to provide The Bachelor of Ayurved
education, having profound knowledge of Ashtang Ayurved. Dept. of
Sanskrit Sam hita Siddhanta is the basic foundation of all other
Departments. But in new Gazette, the potential of Dept. of Sanskrit
Sam hita Siddhanta is under estimated. Because, the Practical/Oralexam . of only this Dept. are omitted. W hy not for other Dept.?
2. Charak Samhita, Sushrut Samhita, Ashtang Sangraha & Hridaya
Samhita are main texts of Ayurveda. The accurate knowledge of these
texts can not be gain without the knowledge of Sanskrit language. If
we are not going to assess the student partly by theory & partly by

Oral; the future students will be poor in the knowledge of original
Samhitas. There will be no recitation of Shlokas & ourselves we will
kill the roots of Ayurved.
3. Ayurveda needs to achieve its full potential both in India and globally.
This requires imparting to its students full appreciation of Ayurveda's
power and strength, particularly proper understanding of the
advantages of applying it to treat chronic and acute diseases. To this
end, we explain the necessity of learning Sanskrit and the advantages
of learning the Texts in the traditional way, rather than relying on
translations with all the loss of meaning and precision, which that
entails.
4. Oral examination is an exam ination conducted by spoken
communication. There are a variety of circumstances where the vivavoce exam ination is used as a form of assessment. Generally, use of
the viva voce can be considered under two categories, as under noted:
(i) Oral Examination might form part of the validated assessment for a
course, For exam ple, extended pieces of work such as
dissertations/projects/theses m ay be partly assessed by an oral
exam ination. In these situations, the viva voce is a useful tool to assist
in authenticating that the work is that of the student. External
Examiners are sometimes involved in these planned viva voce
exam inations.
(ii) Oral exam inations have been used to help determine difficult or
borderline cases; the outcomes should be discussed at the relevant
Assessment Panel.
Hence, we request to am end the following changes in the gazette about the
pattern of marks for Theory/Practical of Dept. of Sanskrit Sam hita Siddhanta
