5th May MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THIS IN LANDSCAPE----NOT PORTRAITHi everyone, hope you are all doing well. I’m trying something new this week to see if it makes the schoolwork easier to get through. I have spread the work out
day by day, tried to have a mixture of book work and online activities of IXL, videos , music to listen to, interactive game on twinkl go .If you have a tablet that has
internet access, IXL and twinkl go should hopefully work on those. I know it is so hard to ask our children to do work-if they do a bit at a time-maybe a bit of
written and then listen to some music, or written work and then a game, it might help? By the way, we reached 50000 questions on IXL on last week, what can we
do this week?!!!
We are moving on to Decimals in maths-there is only one chapter in our book, the children have seen decimals when they did money as a topic, but until
now decimals have not been discussed. They are like a fraction-they show part of a number. The maths antics videos I find are very clear-you can stop and
start them-check if your child understands. I will give 2 worksheets checking the basics.
I have given the suggested timetable with direct links to videos on youtube and codes to twinkl go. I have also attached a document that has all of the log in
details for the publishers.
I will list later on IXL activities I would like to be done this week and a list for children who have already done the. I have a record of all of the topics that
you have done and each Friday I update it. Everyone still has activities marked to do so work away at your own pace-Eng and maths.
After the timetable I have gone through subject by subject given clear instructions for the work.
At this stage, I hope all of you have found your way around the publishers websites. I am attaching a document with passwords etc so you can use them. If
your child is struggling with a topic, or indeed you want more reading/writing/maths activities-feel free to look at different text books for resources.
For Irish and starlight interactive work this week you will need to have made an account with folens-if haven’t one yet
Follow the steps below to get access: Go to FolensOnline.ie and click register
Select Teacher Fill in a username, email and password For Roll Number use the code: Prim20 for primary book resources
I have screen grabbed some pages so, if you don’t do the interactive work, try and do the written activities. I hope all of this works! If the word document is 0pened with notepad it will not work , if it is opened with google docs or word it will work .
Suggested Timetable for week of 5th May tick as you go through the work! There is a box for it…Subject

Maths Decimals
Make sure you have seen the videos by maths antics first
So we learning decimals this week. Remember-they are just like fractions—parts of numbers. Remember how I always said how important it is to put one digit in each box, well it is REALLY important !!
If you have a whole pizza and you split it into 2 pieces
1_ 2 it is a half
as a decimal it is 0.5 3/10 is 0.3 8/10 is 0.8 9/10 is 0.9
Thursday
Try these Remember decimals are always about something being split into 10 equal pieces. If I had a bar and split it into 10 pieces…and gave the rest to my friend…..
And
If I have 0.3 –I have 3 of those pieces, Then my friend has 0.7 of the bar
Or…..I have 3/10 and my friend has 7/10 of it
Try questions 1,2,3
I have attached an answer sheet to the email sent to parents.
