Mark Glover Bio

I’m a single dad and Home School my daughter Sage, I moved to Sequim in 2003 from Northern California with an Arts Degree from San Jose State University. My quilting started because, as a sculptor and painter, quilting represented both color and texture. Quilting is very personal to me… I don’t take classes or follow patterns, I just assemble or create fabric from discards. A devoted recycler, I love scraps which I sew together like a jig-saw. Sometimes this assemblage yields “rows” sometimes “squares” or irregular “rectangles”. Once satisfied with the look, I sew them together.

My first quilt “Too many Notes” won an Honorable mention in the Colorado Show and received First place, Best of Show & People’s Choice at the Clallam County Fair. “Rhapsody in Black” was accepted and displayed the Paducah Quilt Week Show for Spring 2019. Additionally, the Port Angeles Library permanently exhibits my quilts in the reception area.

Martha Scott Bio

Married 33 years to Donald a wonderful man, mother to a fine and talented son and the lucky grandmother to Sage. I moved to Sequim in 2005, and have an Architectural degree from Loyola University in Chicago and a Master’s in Business. I was a Director during my tenure with Xerox Corporation and a Stockbroker from 1990 through 2005.

I began quilting in 2006 where I was introduced to, and fell in love with, Applique. I have been lucky to have received several Awards for my applique quilts, with the most precious “First Place” for “Enchanted Village” last September in Paducah.

COMMUNITY QUILTS

This gorgeous quilt was presented to the Sequim Pioneer Committee for the annual Pioneer Dinner that took place on May 10. It was one of the items on the “Silent Auction.” The proceeds helped to finance one of two ($2,000 dollar) scholarships for a graduating male and female from Sequim High School who will be attending college next year. The committee members were very appreciative of the generous donation. Pioneer committee members who received the donation on May 8 were Neil Clayton, Carol Reed and Steve Pinnell.

Carol Greer, by Pat Gallup, SBS Reporter

Carol Geer is a Dungeness "home town" girl. Carol's father and mother came to Dungeness in 1920 from Texas. Soon Harvey Hall, son of Jake Hall of Klallam tribal fame, and her father became friends in the local fishing business. Carol grew up in the family home built at the end of Anderson road, attended Sequim schools then left for nurses’ training in Tacoma. Her grandmother had taught Carol to sew, a standard home arts discipline for young women at the time. Thirty years passed during which Carol made use of her sewing skills as a home maker while still practicing nursing. She took numerous quilt classes during her years in Tacoma. After thirty years Carol decided to return to her Dungeness home fulfilling a long-time desire and dream. She returned to nursing until 2010 when she discovered the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club where she has enjoyed officiating, making quilts and friends. Today Carol once again lives on Anderson Road with a view of the mountains and the Strait. She is truly home.
