a joint teaching model in which the general education teacher and the special education teacher share planning, teaching, and evaluation within the general setting.

Our Classrooms Represent a Variety of Social Sub-Groups
within the School:
• IDEA – Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
• IEP – Individual Education Program• LRE – Least Restrictive Environment
(Students have the opportunity to interact with and be educated with students who do not have disabilities to the maximum extent appropriate)
Classroom set up:
• Technology - laptop cart, promethean board, projector, weather bug
• Positive signs and messages - posted around room and on entrance door.
• Music - calm music while doing projects • Animals - a variety of animals in the room.
Respect to the individual students (concerns and fears), students learn to respect animals and develop an awareness of change, student aids are responsible and maintain a commitment to the program.
Classroom set up:
• Programs – Adopt a species• Plants - Greenhouse• Stamps or stickers – positive
reinforcement for completed assigned work
• Enforcing positive attitudes throughout the class.
• Developing good communication skills.
Classroom set up:
• Disruptive students can be pulled aside/outside and the situation can be addressed without losing time.
• Make up school work if they have occasionally missed class
• Field Studies – Examples: Merrill Creek Reservoir, Mt Tammany, Great Swamp Environmental Site, Sandy Hook – pollution and beach clean up, recycling.
