Succeeding in Online Classes Tips for Success 1. Use Technology Strategically: o Do test runs of meeting software like Teams or Zoom before classes or meetings. o Store all files in folders that auto sync to the cloud. OneDrive is part of your Office subscription—free to MSU Denver students! o Other options for cloud-based storage are Google Drive, Dropbox, and Apple iCloud. o Create checklists to ensure organization. Great tools include: Wunderlist, Todoist, Word, Excel, or just pen and paper. o Create an online flash cards account. While researching online, copy any useful information onto flash cards for studying. 2. Manage Time Wisely o Set a clear and achievable study plan. o Write out a daily/weekly schedule. Include regular breaks, such as 10 minutes of light physical activity every hour. o Schedule study sessions for each class/topic; schedule more time for harder topics. o Schedule additional blocks of time for doing each assignment. Expect it to take longer than first estimated! o Research shows that procrastination is an emotional response, not poor time management. o So give yourself a break for putting things off, and reward yourself quickly for small stretches of productivity: play some music, take a walk, or say kind words to yourself.
