JIMBOOMBA Suburb Profile I 2

Introducing…

Jimboomba Situated in Logan City, a fast-growing area directly in-between the economically prosperous Brisbane City

and Australia’s premier tourist destination; the Gold Coast City, Jimboomba is positioned for massive

employment and population growth. Over the next 25 years, the Jimboomba Level 2 Statistical Area’s

population is expected to grow 4.6% per year, which is more than double Queensland’s 25-year growth rate

of 1.9% per year. As a result of this extraordinary growth, the Jimboomba Level 2 Statistical Area’s current

population of 20,200, will triple in size to 62,400 by 2036. Due to its significant population increase, the area

has been ranked eighth in the top ten areas with the largest population increases in Queensland.

Logan City is the third fastest growing local government area (LGA) in Queensland, as well as the fourth

largest growing LGA in Queensland, from 2011 to 2036. An additional 234,000 people are expected to call

Logan City home and by 2036, the total population will smash the half a million mark at 522,000 people.

Such a massive, future population requires support in the form of dwellings and jobs. According to statistics,

between 70,000 and 84,000 new, residential dwellings will be provided to Logan City residents from 2006

to 2031. Jimboomba residents specifically, will benefit from the 10,000 to 12,000 new homes added by the

Flagstone Estate alone, upon its completion in 2045. Additionally, they will have access to the 10,000 to

20,000 new jobs triggered by the projected 120% employment growth for Jimboomba and surrounding

suburbs, between 2006 and 2026. Flagstone Estate will contribute approximately 10,000 of the total

projected jobs by 2045. Other projects in progress, approved or proposed that are set to contribute jobs to

the area include the $11 billion Yarrabilba Estate, the $600 million Redevelopment of the Jeta Gardens

Retirement and Aged Care Resort in Bethania and the $550 million Eco-friendly Tourism Village at Carbrook.

Jimboomba residents currently have access to a wide range of amenities, such as schools, childcare centres,

tertiary education institutions, shopping centres, hospitals, train stations, bus stops and entertainment

amenities. Top-performing schools like Emmaus College and the Hills International College are mere minutes

from the Jimboomba CBD, while the Springfield Campus of the award-winning University of Southern

Queensland is only a 24 minutes’ drive away. Within walking distance of the Jimboomba CBD are childcare

centres, such as the Jimboomba Community Kindergarten, shopping centres like the Jimboomba Shopping

Centre and medical centres such as the Jimboomba Pharmacy Medical Centre. Bus stops for the 540 bus

can also be found in the CBD. Easily accessible entertainment facilities are not limited to parks, swimming

pools, libraries and a golf course. If residents need a hospital, there’s the Beaudesert Public Hospital less

than a 20 minutes’ drive south of the Jimboomba CBD. Two train stations, the Springfield Central Railway

Station and the Loganlea Railway Station, which are 25 minutes and 26 minutes away, respectively, allow

Jimboomba residents to travel to the Brisbane CBD and to suburbs in the Gold Coast like Coomera. Via the

Springfield train, the Brisbane CBD is approximately 40 minutes away. As Jimboomba lies beside the Mount

Lindesay Highway, travelling to the Brisbane CBD or to Surfers Paradise via car is easy. A 43 minutes’ drive

north using the highway is the Brisbane CBD, while an hours’ drive south-east is Surfers Paradise.

Logan City Council

Home to 305,000 people or 6.4% of Queensland’s population, Logan City is the fourth most populated local government area (LGA) in Queensland. After Blacktown in New South Wales, it’s the fifth most populated LGA in Australia. Over the next 5, 10 and 20 years, Logan City is expected to maintain its state and national ranking, with an annual population growth rate of 1.9%, 2.0% and 2.4%, respectively. For comparison purposes, Logan City’s 20-year growth rate of 2.4% per year is more than double Brisbane’s 20-year growth rate of 1.1% per year. This incredible growth has lead to the city of Logan being named the third fastest growing LGA in Queensland from 2011 to 2036. It’s also Queensland’s fourth largest growing LGA, with an additional 234,000 people to be living in the city by 2036. Logan City’s total population in that year will smash the half a million mark and rival the Gold Coast City’s current population. Between 2006 and 2031, approximately 70,000 to 84,000 new dwellings will be built in order to accommodate the future population of the city. Strong demand for housing has already triggered $498 million dollars’ worth of residential building approvals in the year ending March 2015. Out of Queensland’s $11,800 million in residential approvals during the same period, more than 4% were approvals in the Logan City. For the year ending September 2014, the city’s LGA had the second largest number of lot approvals, as well as the seventh largest number of detached dwelling approvals, in Queensland. According to Census statistics, 61% of the 127,000-strong labour force were employed full-time in 2011, while 26% worked part-time. Logan City’s labour force exceeded 130,000 in the year ending June 2014 and 93% were employed either full-time or part-time. From 2006 to 2026, a significant portion of Logan City will benefit from an employment growth of 120% or more, while other areas may see a 60% to 120% growth. Up to 60,000 new jobs could be produced over those 20 years. Most of the new jobs will be generated by the planning and construction phases of a variety of infrastructure projects, including the Yarrabilba Estate, the Flagstone Estate, the redevelopment of the Jeta Gardens Retirement and Aged Care Resort and the Eco-friendly Tourism Village in Carbrook.
