THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY AND LOCATE ALL UNDERGROUND PUBLIC AND RAILROAD UTILITIES IN
COORDINATION WITH UTILITY COMPANIES PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF THE WORK. ANY DAMAGE TO THE EXISTING
UTILITIES SHALL BE REPAIRED BY THE CONTRACTOR.
THE LOCATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES AND DUCT BANKS SHOWN ON THE SITE PLANS ARE APPROXIMATE.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE ACTUAL LOCATIONS PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF THE WORK AND MODIFY
THE DUCT PLANS AS REQUIRED BASED ON SITE CONDITIONS.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT, PRESERVE, INCORPORATE, TEMPORARILY RELOCATE, AND, IF NECESSARY, SUPPORT
ALL EXISTING UTILITIES AND ITEMS TO REMAIN. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR OR REPLACE ANY ITEM DAMAGED
DURING THE COURSE OF WORK TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN SAFEGUARDS NECESSARY TO PROTECT PERSONS AND PROPERTY FROM
INJURY OR DAMAGE DURING PERFORMANCE OF THE WORK. OSHA, STATE, FRA, AND ALL MUNICIPAL CODES SHALL BE
FOLLOWED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL LIABILITIES ARISING OUT OF ANY DAMAGES AT SITE.
APPROVAL, BY THE ENGINEER, OF SHOP DRAWINGS AND PROCEDURES FOR CONSTRUCTION AND TESTING SHALL NOT ABSOLVE THE
CONTRACTOR FROM ANY LIABILITY RESULTING FROM ITS OPERATIONS.

ALL EXCAVATIONS AND BACK FILL, SITE DRAIN LINES, ROAD SURFACE AND BED REPLACEMENT SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE THAT OPEN EXCAVATIONS ARE NOT LEFT UNPROTECTED
AT ANYTIME.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL COMPONENTS AND HARDWARE INSTALLATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
MANUFACTURER’S RECOMMENDED PROCEDURES.

IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR’S RESPONSIBILITY TO SEE THAT IT HAS THE LATEST APPROVED SET OF DRAWINGS AND
SPECIFICATIONS BEFORE STARTING ANY PART OF THE WORK.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A MINIMUM OF 9’-0" CLEARANCE FROM THE CENTERLINE OF TRACK TO ALL POLES, EQUIPMENT,
AND/OR EQUIPMENT DOOR IN OPEN 90 DEGREE POSITION.
ALL DUCT BANKS SHALL BE MINIMUM 18" BELOW GRADE AND 36" BELOW THE BOTTOM OF TIES IN ALL TRACK AREAS. PROVIDE
A 3" WIDE RED MARKER TAPE 12" ABOVE ALL DUCT BANKS. LABEL TAPE "CAUTION ELECTRICAL LINES BURIED BELOW".
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY WITH THE ENGINEER ALL AERIAL WIRE TAP STRUCTURE LOCATIONS PRIOR TO
COMMENCEMENT OF WORK.
CABLE TERMINATIONS, TAPS, AND SPLICES ARE TO BE PERFORMED BY AN APPROVED CERTIFIED SPLICER.

THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AN APPROVED CABLE PULLING SCHEDULE AND SHALL DETERMINE AND IDENTIFY ALL AS-BUILT CABLE
OCCUPANCIES IN ALL UNDERGROUND DUCTS AND IDENTIFY SPARE DUCTS.
THE ENGINEER WILL ADMINISTER THE WORK TO BE PERFORMED UNDER THIS CONTRACT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT DRAWINGS
AND SPECIFICATIONS INCLUDING ROADWAY WORKER PROTECTION, ACCESS AND PROTECTION FOR THE CONTRACTOR REGARDING THE
FACILITIES OF THE RAILROAD, COORDINATION OF TRACK OUTAGES, AND THE REMOVAL FROM SERVICE AND PLACEMENT INTO SERVICE OF
ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS.
THE CONTRACTOR IS MADE AWARE THAT THE ARRANGEMENT OF THE CONDUITS AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS MAY HAVE TO BE MODIFIED
IN ORDER TO ALLOW FOR THE NEW DUCT BANKS TO CROSS THE EXISTING DUCT BANK IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE OR ELIMINATE
ROCK EXCAVATION OR TO SUIT SITE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.
