Committee Statement

Committee Statement:

The term industrial needs to be changed or removed in some cases to correlate with changes made to the title of the document from industrial fire brigade to facility fire brigade. NOTE this is different from FR 15 which changed the full term industrial fire brigade to facility fire brigade. This FR changes SOME but not ALL of the words INDUSTRIAL to FACILITY. In some cases the word industrial is still appropriate term to use.

Committee Statement:

Chapter 6 has been deleted and all requirements for advanced exterior firefighting and interior structural firefighting will be covered by the requirements of Chapter 7 which has now become chapter 6. . Both chapters had similar requirements however the committee believes that IDLH conditions may also exist in exterior firefighting. Therefore the requirements provided in Chapter 7 for interior firefighting apply to both situations and are triggered by the fire brigade's potential exposure to IDLH environment regardless of whether this occurs inside or outside the facility or structure. This meets the intent of OSHA's respiratory protection requirement forfirefighting.

Chapter was renumbered due to addition of new sections 6.2 and 6.3. Old annex material from A.6.3.2.1 was moved to new 6.5.2. Old section 7.3.5 was removed since it was considered redundant with existing document requirements. Fire brigades always need to assess the risks and this would be covered as part of the risk assessment. Associated annex material attached.
