Subject-Verb Agreement• Singular nouns need singular verbs to balance them out
when they are in the active present form.
• While we add an ‘-s’ to plural nouns, we do the opposite with most verbs.
• Singular: Plural:
• The kid waits for the bus The kids wait for the bus
The kid sits on the ground The kids sit on the ground
The kid watches TV The kids watch TV
Subject-Verb Agreement
• Some verbs are irregular:
• S: Is/P: are – The teacher is cool vs. The teachers are cool.
• S: Has/ P: have – The teacher has books. Vs. The teachers have books
• S: was/ P: were – The teacher was talking vs. The teachers were talking
