Individual, Couple and Family Counseling Sponsored by Goldberg Couple and Family Therapy Center in the Department of Marriage &

Family Therapy

Description The Goldberg Couple and Family Therapy Center is a valuable community counseling resource offered to people through Syracuse University. We offer therapy to a diverse group of individuals, couples and families (traditional and non-traditional) experiencing a variety of circumstances, some of which may include: communication issues, marital or relationship difficulties, anxiety/ depression, grief, sexual issues, and gender identity issues – just to name a few. The therapists are in training and are currently master’s level grad students in the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy. Each therapist is supervised by a professor in the program. Our sessions are required to be recorded for training purposes. We also have one way mirrors, which are used for live supervision. Everything is kept confidential. There is no psychiatrist on staff, so we do not dispense medication or prescriptions. We do not take any walk-ins. Intakes are done over the phone prior to the first appointment. We do not offer emergency services. Emergencies are directed to CPEP at St. Joe’s or any other emergency room. It takes approximately one month to schedule an appointment. A short intake form must be completed via phone. Once complete, a Supervisor will contact you to discuss your needs in more detail. If the Supervisor determines that the Goldberg Center will be a good fit for you, a therapist will be assigned to your case and they will call you directly to schedule an appointment. If, on the other hand, it is determined that another facility may be better suited to your needs, you will be advised of that during the conversation with the Supervisor.
