My butler escorted me to myresidential suite to get me settled in andto familiarise me with its many featurescatering to the techie at heart, and spashower settings, with a fully stockedkitchenette, and expansive verandaoffering sweeping views of the gardens,pool, and sea. Leaving my butler behindto unpack my suitcases, I headed to Sense,A Rosewood Spa® for a Bahamian Moodmassage using a blend of locally sourcedCascarilla, Neem, and Lemongrassoils. The fragrance of these herbal oils,therapeutic massaging strokes, andmeditative background music, led meinto a trance-like state of deep relaxation,soothing my muscles, and renewing myspirit.

Back in my residential suite, I had asoak in my tub, then donned a jacket

and lounge slacks and headed to theManor Bar for cocktails with friends whowere planning a casino night. We enjoyedsignature Rum Swizzles which opened ourappetites for an evening of fine dining.

Flavours of the world and rollingthe dice

We dined that evening at theRosewood’s signature restaurant— The Commonwealth, with its

menu inspired from the 54 countriesaround the world that were members ofthe British Empire. The extensive menuwas a treat and it all looked very tempting,so we asked for the Executive Chef torecommend a sampling of his favouritedishes from his global travels. To add

more flavour to the evening’s dining, thechef introduced us to the adjoining RumRoom and suggested a number of spiritsfrom the Caribbean to pair with our meal.As we dined in the traditional Londonbrasserie setting on delicious Bahamianconch chowder, grilled prawns, beefwellington, among other dishes, we sippedaromatic rums from the French, Spanish,and English speaking islands.

After dinner we walked a short distanceto the Baha Mar Casino connected to theRosewood by a passageway filled withjewellery stores — Cartier, Tiffany, Chopard.From there, my friends hit the slot machines.Walking through the casino ringed withrestaurants, bars, lounges, and luxurywatch boutiques, there were tables offeringgames of blackjack, baccarat, roulette, andpoker. The Baha Mar Sports Book byWilliam Hill caught my eye, with its sportsgame watching and betting on professionaland college football, basketball, and anumber of other sports. I decided to playmy hand at live InPlay wagering on a hockeygame, but the game was already well inprogress and a winner was declared a fewminutes after my initial bet. It was all funand games and gave me the urge to dancethe night away. Heading to the BondUpscale Nightlife club in the Baha Mar, weenjoyed a live DJ, pulsating beats, flashinglights, and confetti while the champagne

flowed. I finished my evening with late nightshopping at the Baha Mar promenade offeringa range of artisanal Bahamian gift products.

Returning to the calm and serenity ofthe Rosewood, on entering my residentialsuite I read a note my butler left, inviting meto enjoy the bottle of wine and finger treatsprepared for me, along with a new beverageand fruit selection in my kitchenette. Aftertaking some bites and a few sips as a nightcap, I closed my drapes and fell asleep inplush goose down bedding.

Living the Rosewood residentiallifestyle at the Baha Mar

In the morning I dined in residencewith my butler serving breakfast on theveranda with views of brilliant sunshine,

palm trees dancing in the breeze, and azurewaters of the Caribbean Sea.

Then over to the Royal Blue GolfClub, a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course,which received Golf Travel Weekly’s BestGolf Resort Award for 2018. With a set ofItobori clubs—an exclusive Japanese golf-equipment brand rented from the club, mycaddy and I headed down to the scenicisland green on the 16th hole near theshores of Lake Cunningham, passing greenfairways, sand dunes, ponds, and limestone“moonscapes”. A signature vodka cocktailfollowed in the Royal Blue Tavern at theclubhouse offered to me by Andy Deiro,Head Golf Professional at the club.

In the afternoon for lunch, I headedto the pier at Baha Mar for the resort boatto whisk me to Long Cay, a private islandmanaged by the Rosewood. I had the entireisland of over 10 acres to myself along withattentive staff, and enjoyed dining, swimming,dozing in a hammock, exploring the island,and getting in some “me” down time. It isa perfect venue for parties where privacyand exclusivity are desired for you, yourfamily, and your guests.

In the late afternoon back at theRosewood, a few friends living on islandjoined me at the Rosewood Library. Herewe relaxed in its carefree setting with a

selection of books, finger foods, pastries,wines, and of course teas, with the localBahamian tamarind tea my favourite. Amongthe gathering were attorneys who shared withme that purchasers of Rosewood’s fullyserviced turnkey residences and villas at theBaha Mar — which run between $1M to $25M— may be eligible to apply for residency in theBahamas. With several international law firmsdomiciled on island, a number of enquirieswere being made to further explore thepotential benefits of this opportunity.

Dinner that evening was with myprivate banker at Costa, offering bold LatinAmerican cuisine in cabana themed diningpods which appear from a distance to befloating in lily ponds, filled with colourfulbutterfly koi. Here we dined on an openingcourse of seafood ceviche followed by ahearty serving of prime Argentine beef,paired with Mezcal and tequila, whilediscussing options to establish a Family Officein the Bahamas to consolidate and manage myintergenerational assets.

Heading back to my residential suite, Istopped in at the Library for a cup of mynewly discovered favourite tea, tamarind,and flipped through a table top book filledwith images of island life while reminiscing

on my stay at the Rosewood Baha Mar andon the ‘endless possibilities’ the future may holdfor residential ownership and my Family Office.
