cAPE-scAPADEs Trailing behind, as the models walked the ramps were capes, both long and short. Free flowing and well-structured, capes were used by designers Nachiket Barve, Asmita Marwa and Shriti Pratap to accentuate the ensembles and to add an element of grace and drama to the silhouettes.

BLinG QUotiEntThe use of embellishments on the runway ranged from edgy to extravagant. Asmita Marwa used safety pins and washers, along with metal and stonework, while Harsh Gupta used 3D black metallic flowers and gold embellishments on his monotone dresses and gowns. Pria Kataaria Puri used beads and gold sequins to embellish kaftans, maxis and tunics, while Karan Malhotra used rhinestones on the waist and shoulders to add texture to his collection.

shAPE shift Shapes were less about figure-enhancement and more about comfortable grace. Babita Malkani used languid fabrics, like georgette, crepe, satin and cottons, to create fluid garments such as flapper pants, kaftans, sarongs and gowns. Chirag Nainani of Talenthouse played up with asymmetric shirt-dresses and tunics in printed indigo. The line was casual and easy to wear. Nilesh Parashar of Nautanky went for long kurta dresses with dangerous slits and bright colours to add an element of flirty sensuality.
