– What is culture?– Culture is the way a particular group of people has adapted to its environment and background.
• How can the environment influence/shape a culture?
• What might it mean to say that a group of people have adapted to their background?
– A culture takes its form from a collection of values, customs, and traditions.Definitions:
Values- An principle or standard that a group holds to be important
Customs-The usual way of action(acting)
Traditions- A tradition is a pattern of behavior or thought that is handed down
Taken together what are the values, customs, and traditions of a culture known as?
– We are all cultured in the sense that we grow up learning our culture- the things that are expected and acceptable.

• What are some of the ways WE are socialized?
• What is the purpose of this socialization?
• What occurs if you are not socialized properly within the cultural group?
