Servicesthe Library can help you develop skills to study more effectively, improve your results and enhance your employability. the following services are available to all students:

Workshops a varied programme of drop-in workshops runs each semester to develop information literacy and study skills. topics include: how to study for exams, how to cite and reference, using online resources, time management, and literature searching. the sessions are delivered by Library staff in collaboration with colleagues from across the university.

Subject librarians Subject Librarians are responsible for supporting staff and students in one or more Schools. they provide advice, tailored information sessions and one-to-one tuition on all aspects of using Library resources, and issues such as referencing, copyright etc. you

can make an appointment by email, phone or in person, or drop in to the Library.

Effective Learning Service the effective Learning adviser provides confidential one-to-one help for students on any aspect of learning.

Resourcesthe Library holds a wide range of materials, including:

books and ebooks, including copies of course textbooks

electronic and print journals online services to locate individual articles, reports etc, including the comprehensive DISCOVERY single search service

newspapers and magazines endNoteWeb reference management software

a range of resources on study skills eg how to improve your essay writing techniques, develop critical thinking and help you prepare for exams, are available.

Access to other Librariesif the Library does not stock the item you require, you can obtain the item from other sources:

use our inter-Library Loan Service to request items from another Library

Sign up with the SCoNuL access Scheme which allows staff and postgraduate, part-time and distance learning students to borrow from other uK and irish research Libraries. reference access is available for full-time undergraduate students.

request access to the National Library of Scotland, a legal deposit library.
