•UNNC (Ningbo Campus): 2 hours fast train from Shanghai. Only open to those on Econometrics stream

•UNMC (Malaysia Campus): in Seminyih, about 45 mins from Kuala Lumpur. Only open to those on QE stream

Everything is taught in English!

Some important notes

• You can apply for both U21 and intercampus exchange• You cannot go abroad in both semesters• Places are competitive (see next slide)• The International Office decide who goes• Allocation depends mostly on Year One Semester One exams• Some modules are not exact match: some self-study needed• If you are doing joint honours you need to ensure you can take

the necessary modules for both subjects before you apply

Just how competitive is it?

• UBC Vancouver is by far the most popular across the university: you will realistically need over 70% average in year one

• For Concordia, UNSW, Monash and Nihon: over 60% average

• For UNNC and UNMC: over 50% average

• Don’t put UBC down as anything other than your first choice to be in with a chance of selection!

How much will it cost?

• You pay tuition fees to Nottingham, not the exchange partner• Fees are reduced to encourage student mobility:

For UK/EU students: £6300 instead of £9000

For International students: 75% of usual fees

• You pay accommodation costs• Some means tested travel bursaries available• Nihon University provides free accommodation and food for

whole semester!

How to apply

• Deadlines:for U21/Nihon Friday 30 Jan 2015for UNNC/UNMC Friday 6 Feb 2015

• Online application form on IO website (takes 30 mins, no ‘save’ option so you are advised to download form and prepare answers before completing it online)

• IO informs you of result towards end of Feb 2015

What will help your application?

• Predominantly based on January exam results• You also write a mini personal statement• Research your choice university to show real interest• Have genuine and enthusiastic reasons for going• Talk to your personal tutor: he/she will write your

reference (make sure they know who you are!)

• Please consider carefully and do not waste a place that someone else could have had

How does it fit in with your degree?

• We have chosen these partners because they offer the necessary core modules to closely match our own

• You take their exams at the end of your semester• Your exam results count towards your degree• We adjust your exam results to match criteria used by UoN:

we subtract 10% (not applicable for UNNC or UNMC). • Converted grades are usually still better than your average

Nottingham grades• You receive a credit block (one mark) for your semester• You also receive a transcript with breakdown of marks

Notes about modules

• You still do core modules of Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Theory, QE or Econometrics, plus options

• Students on International Economics degree also take equivalent of International Trade or Monetary Economics (one can be taken in year 3 instead)

• You may need to do some self-study through Moodle to ensure coverage of all topics, to help you in subsequent UoN modules

Some general notes

• The academic year in some places starts in July or August• If you have resits in August, you may have to pay to take

them overseas• Check holiday plans and make sure dates don’t clash
