Adelaide is the perfect base to explore the best of what Australia has to offer including spectacular coastlines, desert-scapes, islands teeming with wildlife and some of the oldest mountain ranges on Earth. No matter what direction you head in, you’ll find something uniquely Australian.

CampingThe Flinders Ranges is one of the best places to go camping and experience the Australian outback. You will see open desert, lakes, wildflowers and wildlife, historic towns and rich Aboriginal and European history. Or head to the Yorke Peninsula and camp at one of the picture perfect beach spots along the coast. And if you want somewhere closer to home, Kuitpo Forest offers a nature escape with camping grounds and walking trails.

WildlifeGet close to Australia’s native animals in the Adelaide Hills. At Cleland Wildlife Park you can wander among kangaroos, wallabies, emus and koalas. Or hop on a ferry and head to Kangaroo Island, for native forests, beautiful beaches and wildlife sanctuaries. But you don’t have to go to a wildlife park to see Australia’s unique animals - there are plenty of places where you can see our native animals roaming free.

CoastlineSouth Australia boasts more than 3,800 km of stunning coastline. It’s the home of long summers and stunning beaches so take a trip down the southern coast and spend the day at some of the most beautiful, unspoilt and uncrowded beaches in the world.

Catch festival feverEvery summer, Adelaide comes alive with an explosion of colour, lights, music and culture. ‘Mad March’ is an exciting time to visit Adelaide but there are festivals held all year round celebrating music, arts, sport, comedy, food, wine, beer, culture and so much more.

Footy feverAdelaide is home to a vibrant sporting culture – in no time at all you’ll have chosen your favourite footy team (Aussie Rules) and will be cheering along with thousands of locals at the new Adelaide Oval. If footy isn’t for you, there’s also cricket, soccer, basketball and more.

Check out the live music sceneAdelaide loves live music! Discover some local Aussie talent in a small-venue gig, or go all-out at one of the many festivals or large scale shows. Adelaide celebrates all music styles from home grown tunes to world music and more.

Dine out Adelaide offers an exciting range of multicultural food and is regarded as the food and wine capital of Australia with more restaurants per head than any other Australian city. So explore the city and enjoy the eating options around town, from fine dining to food trucks.

Cost of

Living

Adelaide has one of the highest standards of living of any city in the world, yet is one of the least expensive cities to live in, in Australia.

Bonus savingsOur international students are offered the same public transport discounts as local students saving you hundreds of dollars every year. Students also get discounts on movie tickets and entry into most events, gigs and festivals.

I chose Adelaide because I dreamt of studying in Australia but didn’t want to be in a big city like Sydney or Melbourne. I wanted to have the possibility to go surfing or hiking easily. I love the friendly feeling of living here and the fact that it is truly a student city.

FRANCE

Life in Adelaide is laid-back and relaxing but at the same time there are a lot of different events happening that let you engage with like-minded people and make new connections every day.

This means more money for you to spend on food, accommodation, supplies, travel and entertainment.

Just across the water from Adelaide is Kangaroo Island - one of the world’s great nature-based destinations. It’s an amazing place to explore beautiful Australian landscapes from native bushland to towering sand dunes, soaring cliffs and pristine beaches. The list of things to do is long from extreme adventure activities to walks and hikes, food and wine tours and water activities. There’s also plenty of local wildlife to see up close including koalas, sea lions, penguins and of course, kangaroos.
