Studio Class Descriptions PILATES – A slow and controlled class teaching the Pilates method. Pilates can help to create strong abdominal and back muscles encouraging good posture. Pilates helps to improve strength and flexibility throughout the whole body. STEP IT OUT – Pure step routines for the intermediate to advanced exerciser, incorporating some abdominal exercises at the end of the class. STEP N’ TONE – Exactly as it says a class mixing toning and step exercises for the intermediate to advanced exerciser. FAT BUSTERS – step, aerobics, weights, bands and body conditioning. You’ll never get bored with this class. Open to all levels of fitness. TUMS AND BUMS – A class with lots of exercises to firm your stomach, your hip, bum and thigh area. All levels of fitness welcome. 50+ AEROBICS – A low impact exercise class for the over 50’s, a great way to stay fit and 50! TRIPPLE DECKER - A class combining aerobics, circuit and toning. For intermediate to advanced exercisers. DANCE CLASS – A fun filled class. Dances from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90’s, broadway, street, disco, salsa and much more. CYCLE – A Group based class on cycles led by an Instructor to motivating music. The class includes different cycling/riding positions, which can help to calorie/fat burn. Also tones the bottom and thigh/hip area effectively. FLEXI-BAR – A conditioning class to help firm & tone using the Flexi-bar. The Flexi- bar sends vibrations through the body as we shake it for short periods at a time. These vibrations then make our core muscles switch on (abdominals/lower,mid,upper back/shoulders/hips and thighs) As a result the muscle tone improves in these area’s and our body/core becomes stronger as a result. Body Training Systems Classes (These classes are world renowned group exercise programme’s with pre-choreographed routines to music which change every 8 – 12 weeks) BODY BALANCE – A class that combines Pilates, Tai Chi, Alexandra Technique and, Yoga set to energising music. BODY PUMP – A structured class incorporating use of barbell and weights for every muscle group. Set and led by motivating instructors and music. BODY COMBAT– A class incorporating martial art techniques such as Karate, kung Fu, Boxing, Kicks and Punches to leave you fighting fit. (None Contact) Rules & Etiquette Please Inform a member of the fitness team or main reception if you feel unwell during your workout Please inform a fitness instructor prior to your workout if you are diabetic asthmatic or suffer from a serious health condition Please bring any inhalers/medication you may require in an emergency to the gym/classes Please inform a fitness instructor if you are pregnant or have recently been pregnant Please inform a fitness instructor if your health/medical condition has changed since joining the gym/classes No chewing gum Ensure you wipe down equipment with the cleaning spray and towel provided if you sweat on the machines Be courteous to other members during busy periods by not staying on cardiovascular equipment longer than 20 minutes Please refrain from swearing and using rude and abusive behaviour/language Clothing must be worn when using the gym facility including T-shirts and clean Trainers Bags and coats must be placed in the lockers provided at a cost of £1 refundable We operate an equal opportunity policy despite your age, race, culture, gender, and religion. Studio ClassesWe provide a variety of studio classes within the centre.These classes are available during weekdays, eveningsand weekends.

Classes available are Legs, Bums and Tums, Step,Aerobics, Pilates, Fat Busters, Body Combat, BodyBalance, Body Pump, Studio Cycle, Flexi-bar, Over 50’s,and Dance class.

You do not have to be a member to participate in theclasses but if you purchase a loyalty card you are able tobook classes 8 days in advance, collect loyalty pointsand get a reduced admission to classes and otheractivities.

How To Join the Gym ?

1. You will be required to book and pay for an Induction2. Induction’s can be booked at main reception3. You need to wear sports wear and trainers to your induction4. Cancellation Policy:

To re-arrange or cancel an induction, 24 hours notice must beprovided from date of induction otherwise a refund will not beprovided. You can book a consultation with a Fitness Advisor priorto your Induction to ask any questions or find out about what isavailable. (This can be advisable for people with long term healthconditions or disabilities)

Please note the following for youthShokk Induction’s (8 – 15yrs):

• Registration packs with parental consent are to be obtained fromreception when booking the induction and then returned to theinstructor at the part one induction

• Once the level 1 and level 2 induction’s have been completed aloyalty card will be issued

• Members must book into session times at receptionor by telephone

• Sessions can be booked up to a week in advance (BookingAdvisable)

• 24 hours notice is required to cancel an appointment withoutbeing charged

The Shokk InductionThe Shokk induction consists of 2 inductions, level oneand level two. Both Induction’s need to be completed tobecome a Shokk member.

Level one is an Induction on equipment such as treadmills,rowers, steppers, cycles and cross trainers, teaching howto warm up and cool down and safe use of the machines

Level two is an induction on the resistance equipmentincluding safe warm up, cool down and stretch.

• A Ready, Steady, Go 12 week programme• 1 years loyalty card/gym membership1. The fitness induction starts with a consultation

to find out why you have joined and what youwould like to achieve (aims & goals)

2. The fitness advisor will then carry out andexplain the comprehensive health check whichincludes blood pressure, body composition, lungcapacity and flexibility assessments

3. The Induction allows the fitness advisor to inductand fully explain the use of the fitness equipment.

• Step 1,2, & 3 helps the fitness advisor devise aPersonalised Fitness Programme that helps you to getthe best out of your programme and your timeexercising whether it be for weight loss, healthbenefits or, if your recovering from an injury or illness.

• The Ready Steady Go Life Fitness Programme is a12 week programme. Depending on whether you’rea beginner or a regular user this programme hassomething for everyone.

The Standard Induction• We offer a Standard Induction but this is only

recommended for experienced gym users who maybechanging gyms, or visiting the area.

• No advice is given only a very basic Induction on howto use the equipment.

• We do not recommend this for anybody with healthconcerns/conditions or beginners.

Personal Fitness Programme• This is a one to one session with a fitness advisor

(members only)• The fitness advisor will devise a programme to

ensure you get maximum results from your time inthe gym

• A great way to follow up your 12 week Ready SteadyGo Programme and to progress on to the next Level.

• Just ask yourself if your getting the results you wantfrom the gym?

Fitness advice and tips given, a personalised fitnessprogramme plus quality time with a qualified fitnessadvisor.

SHOKK Youth GYMis a supervised facility for youths aged 8 – 15 years.

• Open Monday to Friday evenings and Sunday morning’s(See timetable for times)

• Fitness equipment available: Treadmills, Rowers, Bikes and ResistanceMachines have all been designed for fun safe use for the younger person.
