CASE STUDY 1:THE MORNING LINE

Techniques and Iterations: Exploration of case studies and how they could have been generated algorithmicaly gave inspira-tion for integrated features and how to push an algorithm for unexpected results.

CASE STUDY 2 aka Design Basis:ZA11 PAVILION

Selection Criteria: •Potential for Integration of Biomimetic Systems, •Simplicity of Algorithm vs. Outcome Complexity •Development Potential for Further Exploration •Site Integration

Selection Criteria: The design outcome generated by the algorithm needs to be able to have an integrated system, com-parable to the sound/music inte-gration of The Morning Line, but a system which through biomimicry benefits the surrounding environ-ment and its’ inhabitants. The prac-tical parts will facilitate encoun-ters with stray cats in particular.

Selection Criteria: Though brought by humans through no fault of their own, se-veral species have been deemed pests and unsubstantiated claims make them sound a menace. Sin-ce stray/feral cats have been here for hundreds of years already, they have fully integrated into the local ecosystem. Instead of culling, an interface could be the solution.

Selection Criteria: The design outcome also needs the ability of easy implementation into a fairly large area. Though a non-stop installation is not the goal, dif-ferent parts need to be integrated into the environment in a beneficial and aesthetically pleasing manner.
