Philosophy • Research shows that sensory activities help

regulate students with disabilities behavior. • Children benefit by being exposed to a variety of

activities that require the utilization of an array of physical, social and cognitive skills.

• Activities to encourage the child’s use of a variety of motor skills, learning opportunities, that occur which encourages thinking and/or social skills are not ignored.

• Children need to feel liked, to be challenged to their sense & pride in their accomplishment

Environment

• Include gross motor –balance beams, tunnel, mats

• Calm zone- bean bag chairs, tent• Select the equipment• Provide a variety of physical activities• Create 4 obstacles for students to enjoy!• Have fun setting it up.

Purpose

• To utilize a research that can be used for all students, special ed, at-risk and general ed. To involve students in a group activity which keeps them moving from an extended length of time, thus working on cardiovascular endurance. Which builds an increase in understanding of spatial sense through the use of movement.

Welcome and Directions

• The peer coach plays the host.• Explains the stations to the student.• They go through stations together offering

tips, helps and suggestions when needed.

• To help create the motor lab• To try and create different and interesting

activities • Use a variety of different equipment• Fun, creative way to get kids moving
