Previously:

• Pupil Monitoring – was carried out twice a year

• Data collection using OMR sheets

• Poor reporting home to parents

• Poor quality information collected from staff – too much

• Information collected wasn’t then used by staff properly

• Analysis produced was dated and not necessarily appropriate

• Paper copies of analysis distributed only

New Process:

• Data collection now done electronically – through marksheets

• ‘Student Tracking’ done every half term (6 weeks)

• Result Sets used to distinguish data collection periods

• More thorough and better quality analysis now produced, and distributed via email to key members of staff (paperless)

• Improved reporting to parent – ‘traffic light’ colour coding along with detailed explanations of the reports

• Student awareness of tracking validity

Data Collection: • Collect a Current Grade / Level, and Attitude to Learning & Home Learning

Values – Concise data collection

• Traffic Light Colour Coding in place to aid staff in in teaching and preparation

(after data collected).

• Don’t display previous “Tracking” collected as to encourage a fresh data

set be reported by staff – improved quality of information collected!

SIMS Advantages:

• All data readily available in SIMS for future use and analysis

• Easy access to ‘Tracking’ data for all staff, via ‘tab’ features linked to class registers

• ‘Tracking Data’ can be used alongside other SIMS data in reports (behaviour, examination entries, official exam results)

• LINKED DOCUMENTS – enables all reports to be stored in a students profile (document library for reports)

• Paperless system – allows for improved efficiency

Summary:

• Good process / procedures now in place for staff (deadlines set)

• Importance of data quality highlighted, and awareness raised

• Information now readily available in all formats for staff throughout the academy – and being used!

• Students much more familiar with ‘Tracking’ and take ownership of progress made

• Reporting to parents much improved – quality of information heightened and understanding increased
