The rest of the columns will contain the student information like date of birth, majoring after finishing his/her degree, in which class level (semester) his/her currently studying, address, and lastly the student contact number. In this table you will be able to know much information about the student within a click. Unfortunately the above tables can cause many problems for the users; for instance, if the name of a student entered with one mistake for the second time the user will not notice that the student has been entered in the data tables twice (in access will show you the error message or even Excel). Furthermore, if we want to know which professor is teaching X student, we will have to look in both tables (table 1 and 2). As a simple it is easy but in a long list of students that might be impossible. Other problem that might occur is when one student drops one course (accounting for example) I have to change both tables (1 and 3) to delete the name and data of that particular student. The forth example is when student want to change professors or date (if he/she has a part time job) to suit her working time I will need to change all the tables to do that.

Benefits of well designed database:

If the tables are designed in a way that can be connected it will reduce the errors in the data, give easy search for students and their enrollment, and can let us delete any information needed without affecting other sources.

In Access 2007 I will build each table with an ID

I will make for each student an ID (like 1, 2, 3…) The student ID will be the primary Key The Course code will be the foreign key

Its intended to show all the student contact details in a time Total courses greater than 25 (degree courses)
