Anger

Anger can be recognized by:

- Glaring eyes

-Narrowing of the lips, most often people associate anger with open mouth because of yelling. When not in speech mode you will notice a narrowing of the lips.

- Eyebrows down and moved together “furrowed brow”

Fear

Fear can be recognized by:

- Lips stretch back towards ears

- Eyelids : Lower lids taught while upper lids are raised

- Eye brows are moved together and raised

Happiness

Happiness can be recognized by:

- Cheeks raised

- Smile wrinkles “crows feet”

- Raised corners of lips

- Squint in eyes

Sadness

Sadness can be recognized by:

- Loss of focus in the eyes

- Droop in eye lids

- Corners of lips turned down, “frown”

SurpriseSurprise can be recognized by:

- Real surprise is brief – one second

-Mouth open

- Eyes wide

- Eyebrows raised

Disgust

Disgust can be recognized by:

- Wrinkled nose

-Wrinkled brow

- Raised upper lip

Contempt

Contempt can be recognized by:

- Expression usually confined to one side of face

- Corner of lip tightened and raised
