Infancy• Today we caught Antonio rolling over. To come to this achievement he had to go through multiple physical stages. He started off by raising his head and moving his neck. This is the first stage of he motor development.

• The social impact that this had on his life was very good in his eyes. He knew we were proud so this had a very positive psychosocial impact. This satisfied his social need.

• When Antonio was trying to touch an electrical outlet we had to correct him. We did this by saying “No” firmly so he knows he has done something wrong. He was in the egocentric stage at this point.

• Antonio had a little clue of the bad thing he had done. But we made a distraction to ease this disappointment. We gave him a new rattle to play with. At this point he was using his sensor motor skills in this cognitive stage.

Toddler• Today is a good

Halloween for Antonio. He is very excited he is starting to express through words. All I hear is him babbling but he is cognitively developing. This stage is the telegraphic speech stage.

• When Antonio goes to get candy we tell him what he must do. We tell him the manners he must use. At this moment we teach him the golden rule. Now he is in the moral stage of Pre-conventional.

• He is doing very well reacting to others. He can start a good conversation but he doesn’t know if he should rely on them or himself. This is the Autonomy versus shame and doubt social stage

• Now he is able to walk for short periods of time. His motor development is going well. He Now is entering the perceptual development stage. He is doing well on grasping things.

Play Age• We can’t believe that

Antonio is going to preschool. It seems like just yesterday he was born and now he is a handsome young man. He is now 4 foot 4 is growing like a weed. He has tan skin and weighs 50 pounds. His eyes are now green he has really blossomed.

• Our son loves preschool he thinks it is very fun. He gets rewarded for everything good he does and he loves it. Now he is going through the role playing stage. He likes to take on adult roles when he plays games.

• Antonio met new friends during his preschool year. They play racing games and board games. During this social period of his life he is going through the initiative versus guilt stage at his school.

• Our little man learned a lot at he is starting to read books. They read the boy who cried wolf today. The lesson that they got out of that was not to lie about things. He starts to understand about law and order now this means he is in the Conventional stage now.

School Age

• In gym class he loves playing basketball he is so good at it. He is so athletic he loves doing sit ups and push ups. He is developing well.

• Now in school he is using grammar rules. He is asking questions as if he were an adult. His vocabulary has expanded to more than 20,000 words. Now he is very close to his final language stage.

Antonio has some really unique friends at his school. They love playing basketball together and they are all starting to stay with each other because they are starting to find there success. This is when they go through the Industry versus interiority stage.

• There school rules are way more complicated than in preschool. Antonio now has to think about more consequences to go with these more complicated rules. Especially the train and caboose rule he knows that he must follow them or pay the price. He has now entered the Post-conventional stage.

Adolescence • He is graduating from high school. He

has grew so much from infancy. Instead of thinking about toys and video games he thinks about girls and sports. His favorite thing to do is box with friends or practice with his trainer. He has gone through puberty. Now he is 6 foot 3 and has a very deep voice and broad shoulders.

• As he grew up all he thinks about now is partying and getting in relationships. He now has gone through the rationalization stage. This is a huge step for him.

• After the graduation Antonio is going to hangout with his buddies. They hangout to show that they “fit in.” These are probably the people that they spend most of there time with. This is the role of his peers in the social development in adolescence stage.

• We have guided them by giving him multiple career options. Also on going to a good college. This is used to help him find his identity. At this point he is in the identity versus interiority stage.

Evaluation

My ReflectionsAfter viewing Juwan and Geraldine’s assignment I was able to evaluate the effectiveness of using Power Point to create a scrapbook to illustrate human development stages. Overall, I believe it was an effective tool that challenged the students to apply what they learned in psychology class about human development to a real-life scenario. Positives of this assignment include that:

• 1. Students were motivated to do the scrapbook as evident in Juwan and Geraldine’s work . For instance, they took on the role of being proud parents by saying “Our Little Champ” and carefully choosing pictures.

• 2. They were mostly able to successful identify the phases of human development and provide mostly correct

examples.

• 3. This assignment is better than a standardized test because for tests simply memorize the developmental stages and forget them later. By making human development personal and providing options for creativity students can enhance comprehension and life long learning. For instance, this could be useful knowledge for parenting.

• 4. Students were able to utilize technology and develop communication skills. A standardized test does not do this.

Areas for improvement:

• 1. Students were not as creative with technology as I had hoped. I thought they would have know how to use more of the stationary or scrapbooking tools. I will have to emphasize that more next time, perhaps through a video tutorial and by providing more creative examples. I learned that more scaffolding to teach technology is necessary.

• 2. I will have to spend more time going over rough drafts and making sure students follow through on corrections. This pair did not submit rough drafts. If they had I would have been able to catch their numerous errors explaining moral reasoning phases and suggest they put in more details about the phases. I may need to re-teach this or change the way I teach moral reasoning. I could do role plays and act out different levels of moral reasoning.
