21Your presentation to your parents: The PowerPoint templateTemplate = the skeleton; just the bones you add the meat. Template/PPT typing & rules:Do not change font, color, backgrounds or graphics yet!Only work on the slides for which you are given directions & permission, you wouldnt want to have to undo/redo anything. Read the template, type your answers and information THEN delete the examples or directions. Type as little as possible on the slide. Summaries & goals are the only sentences! All the rest are just bulleted ideas you will expand upon when you present. You will add details & complete ideas so you will know what to say during your presentation at conferences on November 24th! (NO slide should look as full of text as this one does!! Your parents will stop reading!)

22A little about me as a studentLast yearNow I knowLearning Style InventoryStrengthsChallenges Big MountainThis is the same as Slide #2 on Your SLC PowerPoint. Complete these sentence starters on Your Slide # 2 of your SLC PP and then delete the template starts. You will share more details and information on these topics during your Nov. 24 presentation at conferences. The next slide has a completed example.Directions: Type your own response to the sentence starters above & then delete the template starts.

Last year (Type something about your academic life from last year. What kind of student were you? What did you think this year would be like? What type of learner were you last year?)Now I know (Type something you have learned about yourself just since starting this school year. What is different about you this year? How have you changed since last year?)Learning Style Inventory (briefly describe 2 Learning Style preferences that are strengths & 1 Learning Style preference that is a challenge along with which classes you think match up with these strengths & challenges best. 4. What is a Big Mountain goal you have for the future? What small steps do you need to take in middle school to reach your big Mountain goal?23This is me: Sammy SosaIn 7th gradeStruggled with organization & homework completionGreat at projectsNow I knowNo 3 ring binder, accordion is betterRead rubrics Learning StyleNeed More Structure/Auditory LearnerNot a Morning PersonBig Mountain Goal = Graduate College & become a TherapistExample: Last year in 7th grade I struggled to stay organized. Most of my papers and assignments were shoved in my backpack, laptop case and my planner. I left my binder in my locker all year because I didnt use it. I didnt do very well on daily assignments because I lost them, but I did really well on final projects. Now I know that I wont use a 3-ring binder because I dont like how big and awkward it is. Using an accordion file is easier and Im turning in more homework assignments because I can find the assignments quickly. Ive also learned that I need to pay closer attention to the categories on rubrics I receive for assignments. Last year, I didnt really understand how much easier a class is when I have the assignments completed. When I took the Learning Style Inventory, I learned that I learn better when things are more structured and I am an auditory learner, which means I learn better by hearing. This might explain why math and social studies are my favorite classes. Mr. Hall is very organized and structured and in social studies we have lots of discussions and I enjoy when Mr. Wright shares historical stories. Since I am not a morning person I need to work harder at paying attention in 1st and 2nd period classes. I also may need to get extra help after school for those classes. My big mountain goal is to graduate from college and become a therapist. Some small steps I will need to take in middle include keep my grades up and join some WEB crew or Leadership activities so that I can practice some leadership skills and helping people.
