2. Welcome to StonemasonryBy enrolling on this course you beginyour training as a stonemasonryapprentice. Over the next two yearsyou will develop your abilities as astonemason by learning new skills inthe College and applying them onsite.Your training will be split betweenthe classroom and the workshop. Inthe classroom you will learn aboutthe technology behind the work youdo in the workshop. In the workshopyou will learn to shape and buildstones for use in a variety ofstructures. 3. Welcome to StonemasonryAs an apprentice you need to be prepared to learn. Good attendanceand timekeeping will be essential as will patience and determination.Whether you have spent years working with stonemasons or arecoming straight from school you will find the course challenging andrewarding. 4. Workshop EquipmentWorkshop RequirementsSafety bootsOverallsSafety glassesRespiratorHigh visibility vestIn order to successfully complete your apprenticeship programmeyou are expected to bring an number of items to College every day.Some of the equipment should be supplied by your employer (boots,high visibility vest and hard hat), the College will provide you with arespirator and safety glasses. 5. Classroom EquipmentYou are also required to bringvarious items for classroom andtheory work. You will be given a 2week period to purchase theseitems.
