Drug-Free School/CommunityWorcester State realizes that it has an obligation to maintain a healthy and safe environment by promoting a campus and collegiate experience that is free from drug and alcohol abuse. It is only through the maintenance of such an environment that Worcester State can fulfill its mission of developing the social, cultural and intellectual potential of its members; subsequently fostering their development as responsible contributors to, and participants in, a healthy society. It is the policy of Worcester State, pursuant to Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989, to prohibit the unlawful possession, use or distribution of drugs and alcohol in any part of Worcester State’s activities. Students who violate this policy will be subject to disciplinary action up to, and including, expulsion from Worcester State. Students who are found responsible for the unlawful sale or distribution of illicit drugs will be suspended, dismissed or expelled from Worcester State in the first offense. Students may confidentially obtain information regarding public and private drug and alcohol counseling and rehabilitation services from Worcester State’s Counseling Center on the third floor of the Student Center.
