StudentswhoviolatetherightsofothersorwhoviolateAl-FalahAcademyrulesshallbesubjecttodisciplinary

Disciplineshallbeadministeredwhennecessarytoprotectstudents,schoolemployees,orpropertyandto
maintainessentialorderanddiscipline.
Studentsshallbetreatedfairlyandequitably.Disciplineshallbebasedonacarefulassessmentofthe
circumstancesofeachcase,including:
Seriousnessoftheoffense.
Student’sage.
Frequencyofmisconduct.
Student’sattitude.
Potentialeffectofthemisconductontheschoolenvironment.
Teachers(orICNAl-FalahAcademyStaff)shallattempttoresolvedisciplineissuesbydiscussingthemwith
studentpriortoengagingDisciplineCommittee.

Generally,academicsanctionsshallnotbeusedasdiscipline.However,whenthedisciplinaryinfractionis
academicallyrelated,suchascheatingorplagiarism,academicsanctionsdeterminedbytheteachermaybe
imposed.
DisciplineManagementTechniquesDisciplinemanagementtechniquesareavailablewhenassessingpenaltiesforviolationsofthecodeof
conduct,regardlessoftheoffense.ICNAl-FalahAcademyshallimposethedisciplinaryconsequencerequired
bythisDisciplinePolicyandProcedure. Disciplinemanagementtechniquesmayinclude:
Counselingbyteachersoradministrativepersonnel.
Parent-teacherconferences.
Coolingoffortime-out.
Behavioralcontracts.
Assignedschooldutiesotherthanclasstasks.
Verbalcorrection.
Withdrawalofprivileges,includingparticipationinextracurricularactivitiesandhonorarypositions.
Sendingthestudenttotheprincipal’sofficeorotherassignedareas.
Schooldefinedandimposedprobation.
Rewardsandincentives.
Confiscationofitemsthatdisrupttheeducationalprocess.

summaryreportshallbeprovidedtotheAl-FalahAcademyBoardofDirectors.
OffensesStudentsviolatingAl-FalahAcademyrulesandregulationsshallsufferdisciplinaryconsequences
commensuratewiththeirmisbehavior.Ingeneral,disciplineshallbeprogressivelyadministeredsothat
penaltiesincreaseduetotheseverityorpersistenceofthemisbehavior. Thelengthofthepunishmentwilldependontheoffense.Theconsequencesarenotnecessarilyintheorder
ofseverity.Oneormoredisciplinaryoptionsmaybeusedforasingleoffenseifdeemedappropriate.The
teacherorprincipalresponsibleforthedisciplineofastudentinagivensituationmayusediscretionin
determiningwhichofthelisteddisciplinaryoptionsismostappropriatetothesettingandtheviolation. Examplesofoffensesinclude,butarenotlimitedto,thefollowing:
makingdisrespectful(impolite,mockingorsarcastic)comments,gesturesorexpressionstoICNAl-

vandalism,includingdefacementofschoolproperty
tardinessbetweenclassesorlateinreturningfromrestroom
runningormakingexcessivenoiseinthehall,classroomorbuilding
neglectingtobringrequiredmaterialorassignedworktoclass
