adventurers on their quest to find a bear as
they wade through the gigantic swishy
swashy grass, the splishy splashy river, and
the thick oozy, squelchy mud! Expect catchy
songs, interactive scenes , and plenty of
hands-on adventure!
Possible related Topics & Concepts to explore: Bears, Mammals, Habitats, Safety, Family, Adven-ture, family fun and family roles, Sounds & Movements, Land forms such as rivers or caves, etc. , Games, Bear Hugs, Chants, fantasy vs fiction or real vs. make believe, emotions such as excitement, fear, anticipation, etc. Extended activities and Activity Worksheets: Language: Vocabulary study and writing, “Bear went over the Mountain” Chant Read other Bear stories, Like Corduroy, The 3 Bears, Brown Bear, etc. Discuss the difference from real Vs. make believe bears, discuss story sequence. Have students re- tell the characters, setting, sequence of the story to each other. Writing – Practice tracing Horizontal lines Letter writing capital vs. lower case “Bb” Write the word: bear, plural: bears – extension write rhyming words for bear Social Studies– Show and Tell favorite Teddy Bears Open discussion on fear, what makes us scared, what we can do about it. Safety, discuss the dangers of approaching real bears, safety when outdoors, etc. Open up study on various kinds of bears and learn about them together Math: Number identification & Hide the Bear game, Teddy Bear counting page, Odd/even Bear’s number sort with “Paw” cards Count gummy bears or plastic bears, sort, graph ( and eat if gummy ones) Science : Real Bears information fact sheet with questions Music: “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” Sophie’s sing along see video clip and activities http://www.sophie-world.com/activities/singalong-were-going-bear-hunt Art: Make a paper plate or paper bag bear, Use water color paints have students make a picture of something that they think is scary, discuss bright vs. dark colors that evoke moods of cheerful vs dreari-ness. Use coffee grounds on a paper plate to make a bear face. Make a paper plate bear mask, take turns role playing the bear in the story. Edible Art: Make bear out of Oreo cookies, use your imagination. Other: Bear Hug coloring page Game: Bear Hung Game board worksheet, use a dice with it or number cards.
Memory: Cut out pictures to play. Cards are laid out in a grid face down, and players take
turns flipping pairs of cards over. On each turn, the player will first turn one card over,
then a second. If the two cards match, the player scores one point, the two cards are re-
moved from the game, and the player gets another turn. If they do not match, the cards are
turned back over.

Guide to Theater Etiquette for Students Watching a show at the theater can be a fun and rewarding experience!
Please follow the Theater Etiquette guidelines below.
No food, drink, candy, or gum is allowed in the theater.
Do not swing or play on the handrails. They are used to help patrons climb the stairs and are not toys.
Visit the restroom before the performance begins.
Talk quietly before and after the performance. Once the performance has started, please do not talk. Remember that the people around you and on stage can hear you.
Keep your hands and feet to yourself. Please do not put your feet on the seat in front of you.
When music begins to play or an announcer steps on stage, please stop your quiet talking and give them your full attention. Remain seated quietly while the performance is in progress. If a performer asks for audience participation, please feel free to do so.
Always be respectful of teachers, ushers, performers, and other audience members. Stay with your teacher and classmates.
After the performance is over, please talk quietly and stay with your class. When leaving the theater, please do not run, yell, or play on the handrails.
