Feedback from each group – How did it go?
Are you ready to launch?
Capturing the best ideas from our first trials
• Does everyone have a place where people can get forms from?
• Did anyone set tasks for others and did they pass?
• Did anyone do a judging panel
Key question from last time not answered
• Should you get a certificate each time you pass a Level 1 task and then a badge when you can show 10? signed certificates ?
OR
• Does one task earn you a badge?
ALSO
• Can badges be un-earned or removed?
Monday 22nd January• Meet with your student councils first week back
• By then we will have….
Friday 2nd February• Our next meeting
• By then we will have….
Our challenge for today
By the end of our work today – we will have
•Agreed how the Student Council does its building survey each year.
If we work incredibly well then….
•Have a completed report for Saltash
Morning Break and Listening
• During the morning break…
• Stay with the Saltash partner at all times• Walk around the school and ask opinions of children about their school
• Which areas should be improved?
• Which areas are their favourite spaces?
• Make notes.
• If you need the toilet ask your team leader to take you there and help you get back.
Making a report for governors - How it works
1. Take photographs• NOT with people in them if possible
• Close enough to show details
• Delete any photo if asked to
• Take photos from different angles
2. Do research to see other spaces• Think of other spaces you like being in.
• What do good spaces have in common?
• Are there good spaces you like that are not in school but you feel the school could make something similar?
3. Agree best and worst• Show each photos to the team just
long enough to describe in a word.• Which caused the best feelings?• Which areas made you feel worse?• Do you agree on the best and worst
or are there interesting differences?
4. Do your report• Top three areas to change and why• Areas which are the best and why• Suggestions for improving the
worst areas to make them like the best ones
Doing this task
• How do you organise your team?
• What do you need each other to do?
• How will you do this in your own school
• What will remind you to keep going?
• Never be critical without a suggestion
The School Tour
• The leaders and student councillors from this school will each take a group and act as a guide.
• You will stay with your group and follow the tour of the school.
• You will stand for 5 -10 minutes in one lesson to see how the teacher is teaching the subject and compare it to how you are taught in your school
• Do not take photos or video in the classroom
Final summing up 1:00 pm until 1:30 pm
• Your group leader will ask if you would like to speak
• If nobody wants to in your group then your group leader can speak for you
• Sum up findings – how successful do you believe this next stage will be ? How can we add to this success?
Our Launch
• We all should be level 1 leaders
• We all should promote someone not in this room to be a level 1 leader.
• How many of these should they have to do?
• Which lunchtime will you hold the interviews? Where in the school?
• How do you agree a rota?
Summary so far...
1. The level 1 badge is red, level 2 orange etc.
2. People who can award a badge must
1. Have a badge of that level or higher themselves
2. Have attended a MAT student council meeting
3. The evidence sheet MUST be completed and signed
4. If possible new leaders should be announced in
assembly by student council members
