Introduction College of the North Atlantic Awards Program provides a significant contribution to the education of our students through the encouragement and recognition of high scholastic performance and by providing a measure of assistance to those who may experience financial difficulty in completing their programs of study. These awards are made possible by the generous contribution of our donors, who represent numerous organizations, companies and individuals and whose support is the very foundation of our awards program. This handbook describes the types of awards available and the specific criteria for each. It also provides a section that describes awards offered at each campus, as well as a section that outlines awards that are provided at the provincial level. Students in qualifying programs at all campus locations compete for provincial awards. For further information, please contact the person responsible for your campus awards program or the Provincial Chairperson. Please refer to the committee membership section of this brochure for a list of awards representatives. Please read carefully the General Information section of this brochure. College awards are subject to change or cancellation without prior notice. This handbook is also available on our web site at “http://www.cna.nl.ca/awards”. General Information The College offers opportunities to students in many programs to compete for a variety of achievement awards, scholarships, bursaries, distinction awards, prizes and graduation awards. Note: All students who are selected for an award/scholarship/bursary will be required to provide their Social Insurance Number, so that a T4A may be issued for income tax purposes. Note: College of the North Atlantic recommends that students who are receiving funding and/or sponsorship contact their funding/sponsoring agency for clarification of whether receiving an award may affect their funding/sponsorship status. Note: If you receive a scholarship or bursary, you must report the total amount on your application to Student Financial Services; however, only the amount that exceeds $1,800 per academic year will be considered a financial resource in calculating your assessed need.

The society would have socials, fundraisers and receive donations from private individuals to raise monies.
