Among the main tasks the interested candidate will: - Work with distict parallelization of the code (CUDA, OpenMP 4.0, MPI) - Run numerical tests on Forschungszentrum Juelich-based Supercomputers - Prepare results for publication - Prepare a Doxygen-based interface for the documentation of the software - Design and develop a web page dedicated to the publication of the software - Design and maintain a Wiki page dedicated to the software on the TRAC system - Intall and run competitors packages on the Supercomputers The student assistant will have the chance to acquire practice and experience on the largest and most parallel Supercomputers in Europe and accumulate experience in the development of a high-performance linear algebra library. In addition he/she will be involved in research and support activities which may end up in peer-reviewed publications on international journals. Required skills : -- Proficiency in C/C++ programming. -- Working knowledge of Fortran is an additional asset -- Some experience in web page design and development -- Familiarity with UNIX/Linux operating systems -- Familiarity with Python and especially Matplotlib -- Basic knowledge of linear algebra -- Independent thinking -- Team working What we offer: * A research environemnt rich in international collaborations * Inclusion in a team working at the interface between applied science and computation * Insights on high-performance computing on large parallel architectures * Active contribution on peer-reviewed journal articles Interested? Student assistant / HiWi-Stelle High-performance eigensolvers in Materials Science

The JARA-HPC Simulation Laboratory "ab initio methods for Chemistry and Physics" (SLai) is seeking a student assistant who would contribute to the development, testing and maintenance of a newly developed eigensolver, Chebyshev Filtered Subspace Iteration, tailored to Materials Science simulations. Among the main tasks the interested candidate will: - Work with distict parallelization of the code (CUDA, OpenMP 4.0, MPI) - Run numerical tests on Forschungszentrum Juelich-based Supercomputers - Prepare results for publication - Prepare a Doxygen-based interface for the documentation of the software - Design and develop a web page dedicated to the publication of the software - Design and maintain a Wiki page dedicated to the software on the TRAC system - Intall and run competitors packages on the Supercomputers

The student assistant will have the chance to acquire practice and experience on the largest and most parallel Supercomputers in Europe and accumulate experience in the development of a high-performance linear algebra library. In addition he/she will be involved in research and support activities which may end up in peer-reviewed publications on international journals.

Required skills : -- Proficiency in C/C++ programming. -- Working knowledge of Fortran is an additional asset -- Some experience in web page design and development -- Familiarity with UNIX/Linux operating systems -- Familiarity with Python and especially Matplotlib -- Basic knowledge of linear algebra -- Independent thinking -- Team working

What we offer: * A research environemnt rich in international collaborations * Inclusion in a team working at the interface between applied science and computation * Insights on high-performance computing on large parallel architectures * Active contribution on peer-reviewed journal articles
