Bug-Sized Robot Competitors
The scenario proposed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency (DARPA), representatives said in a statement. The group is seeking innovative designs for robots that
measure just a fraction of an inch, and the tiny bots will compete against each other in a series of contests of
strength, speed and agility — similar to those that try the limits of human achievement in the Olympics. The
robots would be developed for a new DARPA program called Short-Range Independent Microrobotic Platforms
(SHRIMP). Under SHRIMP, the bug-sized bots will be tested for deploying in locations that are difficult for people
to navigate, or are dangerous or inaccessible to humans, according to the statement. [Humanoid Robots to

Wireless 'RoboFly'
A new type of flying robot is so tiny and lightweight — it weighs about as much as a toothpick — it can perch on
your finger. The little flitter is also capable of untethered flight and is powered by lasers.This is a big leap
forward in the design of diminutive airborne bots, which are usually too small to support a power source and
must trail a lifeline to a distant battery in order to fly, engineers who built the new robot announced in a
statement .RoboFly's creators will present their findings about the robot on May 23 at the International
conference held in Brisbane, Australia.The cell doesn't store energy; the circuit must be within range of the fixed
laser to generate power for the robot to take off, and once its cell moves beyond the laser's reach, RoboFly's
flight is over.

THE HISTORY OF ZERO
Basically zero came in origin in 5th century A. D. and the concept related to zero became broad and
vase with time. Zero was invented independently by the Babylonians, Mayans and Indians (although some researchers say the Indian number system was influenced by the Babylonians). The Babylonians got their
number system from the Sumerians, the first people in the world to develop a counting system. Six hundred
years later and 12,000 miles from Babylon, the Mayans developed zero as a placeholder around A.D. 350 and
used it to denote a placeholder in their elaborate calendar systems. Despite being highly skilled mathematicians, the Mayans never used zero in equations, however. Kaplan describes the Mayan invention of
zero as the “most striking example of the zero being devised wholly from scratch.”

FACTS ABOUT BABBAGE
Babbage was born to a London family who had ties to the banking industry, and was schooled
in various locations and by private tutors due to his poor health as a child.
At one of the schools he attended, Babbage was allowed access to a library that spurred on his
love of math.
After finishing his early education, Babbage was accepted to Cambridge's Trinity College
where he was disappointed in their math department.
This caused him to form the Analytical Society in 1812, along with several other friends and
fellow students, with the purpose of working deeper in mathematics.
He was also a part of two other clubs, the Ghost Club which studied paranormal phenomena,
and the Extractors Club, whose sole purpose was to make sure its members were freed from mental institutions of they were committed due to their work.
After being denied a diploma with top honors for a thesis that was considered blasphemous, Babbage set about correcting his reputation through his work.
He lectured the Royal Institution and was made a member of the Royal Society the following year.

Hacking
A computer hacker is any skilled computer expert that uses their technical knowledge to
overcome a problem. While "hacker" can refer to any skilled computer programmer, the term has become
associated in popular culture with a "security hacker", someone who, with their technical knowledge, uses
bugs or exploits to break into computer systems. You shouldn't limit yourself to any particular language, but there are a few guidelines. Learning a program might take time, so you need to be patient.
C and C++ are the languages that Unix and Windows were built with. It (along with assembly language) teaches something that's very important in hacking: how memory works.
Python or Ruby are high-level, powerful scripting languages that can be used to automate various
tasks.
Perl is a reasonable choice in this field as well, while PHP is worth learning because the majority
of web applications use PHP.
Bash scripting is a must. That is how to easily manipulate Unix/Linux systems-writing scripts, which will do most of the job for you.
Assembly language is a must-know. It is the basic language that your processor understands, and
there are multiple variations of it. You can't truly exploit a program if you don't know assembly.

AIBO
AIBO is a series of robotic pets designed and manufactured by Sony. Sony announced a
prototype Aiboin mid-1998.The first consumer model was introduced on May 11, 1999.New models
were released every year until 2006. First and second generation models of AIBO can load different
software packages sold by Sony. AIBOware (a trademark of Sony corporation) is the title given to the software the AIBO runs on its pink Memory Stick. The Life AIBOware allows the robot to be raised
from pup to fully grown adult while going through various stages of development as its owner interacts
with it. The Explorer AIBOware allows the owner to interact with a fully mature robot able to understand (though not necessarily willing to obey) 100 voice commands. Without AIBOware, AIBOs
run in "clinic mode" and can only perform basic actions. The initial ERS-110 AIBO's hardware includes
a 64-bit RISC processor, 16 megabytes of RAM, sensors (touch, camera, range-finder, microphone, acceleration, angular velocity), a speaker and actuators (legs, neck, mouth, tail). As the series
developed, more sensors and actuators were added. Wi-Fi was available as an add on for some second-
generation AIBOs.

Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality (AR) is an interactive experience of a real-world environment whereby the
objects that reside in the real-world are "augmented" by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somtosensory, and
olfactory.
A Novartis chief announced that the digital contact lens patented by Google would become
available in 2016. As it will measure blood glucose from tears, it is supposed to change diabetes treatment and management. Moreover, Hololens from Microsoft also comes out in 2016 which will have a huge
impact on fields from medical education to architecture and engineering. It could help medical students do
dissections for many hours a day from any angles without the formaldehyde smell.

The first laptop was named “Osborne 1” named after his inventor. It's cost was $1500. It was with of its programs an had a small computer screen build on it. It was invented by “Osborne computers” . This
first portable computer was a big success, the sales of company was reaching over 10,000 per month. After
the many companies noticed this invention and launched many new laptops with new features. 1. IBM launched the IBM 5155 Portable Personal Computer in 1984.
2. In 1988, Compaq Computer launched the first laptop PC with VGA graphics, Compaq SLT/286.
3. NEC released UltraLite, which was the first 'laptop' computer. Weighting under 5 lbs, it was the precursor of today's models. And the race in the history of small computers began.

Internet of Health Things At Home
The usage of the IOT In healthcare (the industry, personal healthcare and healthcare payment
applications) has sharply increased across various specific Internet of Things use cases. At the same time
many other healthcare IoT use cases are picking up speed and the connected healthcare reality is
accelerating, even if hurdles remain. Last year, a concept art of a bathroom of the future was released. All the elements in that image from the smart toothbrush to the digital mirror were partially available in 2017.
But an array of sensors will reach the general public in 2018 making IoT a reality in our homes. The long-
term goal is to make these devices communicate and learn from each other. This way we would not have to analyze the data of the devices ourselves, but the device manufacturers could merge their findings and
share a digestible report with us when there is something to take care of.

DAILY LIFE WITH IOT
1.Imagine you woke up in the morning by dismissing your alarm, immediately the alarm send signal to coffee maker saying you are awake and brew some coffee ready. In the meanwhile it also tells your water
heater to warm up water. Once you are done with your shower, then the shower will tell the toaster to
toast breakfast ready. Similarly you have water sprinkler which check today’s weather to see how much water needs to be sprayed on the lawn.
2.Imagine if your fridge could analyze what is in it, and then build you a shopping list based on your
previous food-buying habits. Or even your fridge sends you a message that it runs out of milk and when you’re walking down the supermarket, and you get to the milk fridge. Your shopping trolley vibrates, and
the screen mounted on the trolley handles displays a message: “There is no milk in your fridge. Would
you like to purchase some?”

3.Smart toothbrushes are another item that already exist, but they are still in their early stages. Currently they can
detect when you haven’t properly brushed certain areas of your mouth. However, smart toothbrushes could go
one step further. One day, our toothbrushes will be able to detect the healthiness of your teeth, telling the user
when it’s time to go to the dentist.
4.What if our plates and bowls could track what we’re eating? This could not only help us with our diets, but
could make waves in the health system as a whole. It could help make our health insurance cheaper and could help us live healthier lives.
5.It’s 2025 and you’re stepping out of the office to hail a cab to your important business meeting. Of course, your
Google Calendar automatically scanned your Gmail and uploaded an entry for your meeting to your phone. Your phone told your office that you were leaving. By the time you’re at the front door, your self-driving Google Cab
has pulled up. You hop in and start to tell it where you want to go. Of course, it already knows.
6.Your coffee saucer is actually a tiny scale. You’re at the cafe, reading Business Insider. You finish your coffee
and put down the cup. You get a pop up on your tablet: “Looks like you’ve finished your coffee. Another?” You
click yes, and the barista is sent an order.

Food Scanners
Food scanners are hand-held devices that are able to analyse the composition of food with a simple point
and shoot. In March last year, the European Commission awarded a food scanner innovation prize . It was part of
their Research Innovation Horizon Prizes, with three successful finalists. The winner was the Finnish startup
spectral engines. Founded in 2017, the startup developed a food scanner based on Near Infrared Spectroscopy. With advanced algorithms and cloud-connectivity and a vast library, it can "see" a lot. According to the company,
it can “reveal the fat, protein, sugar and total energy content” of foods.
Food scanners like Scio and Tellspec have been in the spotlight since 2014, but as early developer prototypes have already been mailed to their first users in 2015, 2016 could be the year they become generally
available. This would enable anyone to find out what’s really on their plates, providing clear benefits not just to
people looking to gain weight or eat healthier food, but people with dangerous allergies as well.

Intern experience
To enter into a place known for remote sensing satellite data acquisition andprocessing was indeed out
of imagination for all of us. We, being fresh minded nascent engineers couldn’t think of a better opportunity to
explore what was within us. Stepping into that prodigious organization was a dream come true for all of us. After crossing the security checks by the CISF team, we were given access to enter into high and low security
zones of NRSC where only confidential people were permitted. They teamed us based on our interest in deep
learning or big data. Feature extraction and spatial analytics were the projects assigned to us. ”Industrial experience will teach you a lot which books cant”, was what we realized during our intern days at the NRSC.
We would like to thank all the people who took lots of effort to make this happen.
